San Diego, CA – August 3rd, 2005 – San Diego based hard rock band Colporter has continued to work with producer Steve Russell, who recently finished production on As I Lay Dying and Mortal Enemy, to complete a follow up EP to their first release Sovereign Mind. The EP is titled Despite the Battle and features a more progressive metal sound than their first LP that garnered the band much success in the past 24 months. The band plans to celebrate the release of the EP at the Roxy Theater in Hollywood, CA on the 23rd of this month.
Colporter has built upon a solid foundation of seven string guitar and five string bass, mystically paired with what a Colporter fan dubbed as “vocals that sound like Tori Amos’ evil twin”. Though a far stretch from pop to Colporter, the comparison to Amos stems from singer Sarah Paolini’s ability to wail into the rafters and reach audiences on an emotional level. Influences that can be heard in the music are Alice In Chains, Megadeth, Sevendust, and Godsmack. The band sees themselves as a perfect fit for the Ozzfest croud and are determined to see female artists making a seriously significant mark in the hard rock and metal genres in the very near future. “There is Evanascense and then there is Kittie…we are filling the void in between,’ says Sarah, also setting herself apart from the norm by dominating on the five-string bass. The other half of what creates such a signature sound with Colporter is the amazing guitar playing by David Paolini, recently endorsed by Randall Amplifiers, Basson Cabinets, Halo Guitars and Coffin Case and surely a future cover model for all the guitar magazines out there.

Stormy sea
Set me free (echo)

Don’t wanna be like you
This may not continue
Don’t wanna act like you
Don’t wanna live like you
I will not continue
Won’t be like you

Family
Set me free (echo)
Misery
This will not continue
Don’t wanna be like you
This may not continue
Don’t wanna act like you
This cannot continue
Don’t wanna live like you
I will not continue
Won’t be like you
This will not continue
Don’t wanna be like you
This may not continue
Don’t wanna act like you
This cannot continue
Don’t wanna live like you
I will not continue
Won’t be like you
The lyrics to Colporter's song "Cannot Continue" are about breaking free from a cycle of negative behavior and refusing to repeat the same pattern as previous generations. The repetition of "set me free" echoes the desire to break free from the stormy sea of negative experiences and disbelief that may have been perpetuated within the family. The singer expresses that they do not want to be like the family members who have caused pain and misery, and that they refuse to continue living in the same way.
The lines "This may not continue, Don't wanna act like you, This cannot continue, Don't wanna live like you" highlight the determination of the singer to break away from the negative path that has been set for them. The repetition of this message reinforces the urgency of the message and the strength of their conviction. The repetition of the phrase "This will not continue" is a declaration of the singer's willingness to change their life and break free from the burdens that have been placed on them.
Overall, "Cannot Continue" is a powerful statement of the desire to break free from negative patterns of behavior and lead a better life. It is a message of hope that encourages others to break free from negative cycles and embrace a more positive future.
