Real works on this project in balance (and sometimes not) with his full time career as a Sound Designer at BioWare Edmonton, making some of the most highly regarded video games in the industry.
There are a wide range of influences in the Comaduster palette, some include: IDM, Drum and Bass, Industrial, Ambient and Post-Rock.
The project started in 1998 and originally went under the title 'FXseries'. During this time a local album entitled "Ghostmachine" was released.
In 2004 there was a brief name change to 'Daedal' and a 5 track demo was released online. The demo had a generally positive response. During this time remixes were done for Icon of Coil and Dismantled, as well as mixing work on the Dismantled album "Standard Issue", released on Metropolis and Dependent records.
In 2008 the name was changed to 'Comaduster' and the project took on a more focused objective.
In late 2009 the album "Slip through" was released online for free (or donation). This album was a culmination of work from 2002-2006, with the title track being composed in 2008. It was pared down from 19 tracks to 7 over the course of finalizing it in 2009. It was originally intended to be a release of unfinished material that would not have seen the light of day otherwise. Over the course of mixing and reworking the material a more focused sound started to emerge from a few of the tracks in the large list.
The album was released in late September 2009 and has been highly regarded.
In January of 2010 the unreleased track "Hide to Seek" was released in the Xbox 360 game "Mass Effect 2" . You can hear this track in the Eternity club in the game.
On September 24th 2010 the track "Foam Abattoir" will be released on Dependent Record's "Septic IX" compilation.
In late 2010 a remix EP follow for Slip Through will be released. This has yet to be given a title.
And on September 25th 2010 Comaduster will be performing his first full on Audio Visual piece (untitled).
This piece will be released in 2011 in some form or another.
Walls
Comaduster Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We'd fall from the edge
And I can see clearly,
Since you had marked the way.
You dissolve
What I hide inside
These walls
You shine
Right through the blackened hollow
Walls that keep me down.
CHORUS:
I wait, unfound, so I can dream forever.
There's always storm clouds, so we can freeze together.
One slight move,
I don't react.
Now I am bleeding
But you enshroud the vein
CHORUS:
I wait, unfound, so I can dream forever.
There's always storm clouds, so we can freeze together.
The lyrics to Comaduster's song Walls explore the experience of being held back by internal walls and being continuously lost in the dark due to these barriers. The first line of the lyrics, "One slight move, we'd fall from the edge," sets the tone of the song by indicating how precarious and fragile the singer's mental state is. The singer understands that they are in a dangerous position, but they can see clearly since someone has marked the way. It can be interpreted as a metaphor for a person who has helped them in the past to overcome the barriers they face.
In the second verse, the singer acknowledges that the person who helped them is now absent, leaving them to face their inner demons once again. The lines "You dissolve what I hide inside
These walls held in the night
You shine right through the blackened hollow
Walls that keep me down" reflect the fact that while the singer's emotional walls may have dissolved temporarily, now they are back up again, and they feel trapped and haunted by them.
The chorus implies a sense of longing for something that feels unattainable, and the singer wants to keep dreaming forever because that dream is better than the reality they face. They also mention that there are storm clouds around them, indicating that despite wanting to remain in this dream world, they know that there are still obstacles present that are preventing them from achieving this.
Overall, the song explores themes of mental health, loneliness, and an individual's struggle to break free from the walls they built around themselves.

Comaduster is everything that any prog-rock kid could have asked for out of a dubstep artist and then some. RESPECT!
@Comaduster
Prog is a big part of my upbringing for sure. My music will always be 'progressive' in some way... Definitely not always Dubstep influenced -- that was a big part of the influence on the Hollow Worlds album, but this project will always shift and push different ideas :) Thank you so much for listening!
@trzigweid
For sure. The way your music has and continues to evolve makes it all the more enjoyable!
