In February of 2003 their first EP, A Crescent Honeymoon, was released on Lookout! Records. Lookout! also released Poison Arrows, in June of 2004. With the departure of Cory in the fall of 2005, the band regrouped and brought in longtime friend Steve Lowensohn (formerly of bay area band The Cost). In the same year, the band released "Roses Are Black". In 2006, the band released "Walk Into The Light". In 2007, the Communique name was discontinued and the band became American Steel again.
Ouija Me

But dead men don’t tell secrets, do they?
If loose lips sink ships,
Then I’m going down with it
I think you should know
I’m staging my own gruesome death
I feel that all is already lost
If you want me
If you need me
Then please feel free to Ouija me
I’ll be swinging from a short length of cord
Light as a feather and stiff as a board
If you want me
If you need me
Then please feel free to Ouija me
This ennui is killing me
So gently and so softly
Just like premeditated last kisses on baited breaths
I think you should know
I’m staging my own gruesome death
I feel that all is already lost
I tried making you out, but you're fading too fast
If you want me
If you need me
Then please feel free to Ouija me
I’ll be swinging from a short length of cord
Light as a feather and stiff as a board
If you want me
If you need me
Then please feel free to Ouija me
I’ll be haunting you tonight
Haunting you tonight
In lieu of waking hours with you
In lieu of waking hours with you
If you want me
If you need me
Then please feel free to Ouija me
I’ll be swinging from a short length of cord
Light as a feather and stiff as a board
If you want me
If you need me
Then please feel free to Ouija me
So softly
The lyrics of "Ouija Me" by Communiqué is a melancholic and provocative narrative of someone who is ready to stage their own death. The first stanza of the song sets the tone of the confessional nature of the lyrics: "We've been misbehaving / But dead men don't tell secrets, do they? / If loose lips sink ships / Then I'm going down with it." The singer seems to have a secret that they have been keeping, but they have resigned themselves to the fact that they will take it to the grave.
In the chorus, the singer contemplates death further and presents a somewhat eerie offer to the listener: "If you want me / If you need me / Then please feel free to Ouija me / I'll be swinging from a short length of cord / Light as a feather and stiff as a board." This line is both chilling and sad as the singer seems to be longing for connection even in death. The verse after expresses the feeling of loss: "I think you should know / I'm staging my own gruesome death / I feel that all is already lost / I tried making you out, but you're fading too fast." The singer seems to suggest that life has dealt them an unfair hand, and they have accepted their fate, even if it means taking their own life.
