Hunker Down
Corbin Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Is it really that hard to get behind?
The thought of you being mine? I
Drive through the night to come see you
I know I'm just a memory
Something's pulling and I know it's real
Who knows how long we got left? I'm
I'm building us a bunker babe
When the fire comes I'll keep us safe
Last two people on Earth, oh
Now I'm prayin' to any out there gods
I'm not sleeping 'til my breathing stops
Getting fucked up in my car somewhere, I

I'm going, going North
I'm going, going North, oh

Where the 61 touches the waterline
They can look for us but they'll never find
We're too deep in the green of spruce, hey
Watching movies on a six inch screen
No this bitch don't take DVDs
Shit was broke, wouldn't eject
Got speakers if you wanna rave
Some records that I'd like to play
Make this house our heaven on Earth
You can leave the city, quit your job
You're the only one I want
Cooped up in the middle of nowhere

We're going, going North (we're going)
We're going, going North, oh

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Corbin's song "Hunker Down" are a reflection of the singer's desire to be with someone that he deeply cares for, without any distractions from the outside world. He expresses his willingness to go to any extent to be with this person, in spite of the challenges that come with it. The song begins with the question, "Is it really that hard to get behind? The thought of you being mine?" This question is reflective of the singer's confusion as to why it may be difficult to pursue someone he has feelings for.

He goes on to express his willingness to drive through the night just to see this person, even though he knows he is just a memory to them. The singer believes that there is something pulling them towards each other, and that this connection is real. He then talks about building a bunker to keep them safe, during the chaos that may come with the "fire". The last two people on earth, cooped up in the middle of nowhere, allowing themselves to escape from reality and in each other's company. The song describes the image of the two of them being hidden away from the world and all its distractions, creating a haven for themselves, where no one can find them.

Overall, the song captures the essence of wanting to be with someone so deeply that one is willing to create a space where nothing else exists, but the two of them, to get lost in each other's company. It's the ideal situation, a perfect world of one's own making, a world that seems eternal but might actually be temporary.

Corbin’s voice is already really great, but whoever mixed/mastered this knows what they’re doing. This song sounds so crisp and polished, and it really highlights just how good and raw Corbin’s singing is.

USMCLP his sound production is off the fucking chain. I know producers who love him because of solely that. Corbin a king.
