Cri-Cri is known as the "grillito cantor" or "the singing cricket". He is a character created by Francisco Gabilondo Soler in his childhood and may even be considered "his inner personality"
The character became so famous and gave its author such renown, that it became a second name for Gabilondo. In the mid part of the 20th century he became the most recognizable singer of children's songs in Spanish. Gabilondo's dedication to this segment of the population has been greatly admired, comparable to Walt Disney in his honest approach to making life fun for those who are getting started in life.

In Cri-Cri's song "Dí por qué," the singer is asking his grandmother a series of questions about her appearance and behavior. He wants to understand why she has aged and why she is no longer able to do certain things like jump on the bed. He asks about her glasses and teeth, and why her hair is white like the foam of the sea. The song also touches on themes of family and memory, as the singer observes his grandmother crying in front of a closet filled with pictures.
The song speaks to the close relationship between grandparents and grandchildren, as well as the gradual changes that come with aging. It encourages listeners to appreciate their elders and to ask questions about their lives and experiences. The repetition of the phrase "Dí por qué" emphasizes the singer's curiosity and desire to understand his grandmother's perspective.
Overall, "Dí por qué" is a gentle and nostalgic song that celebrates the bonds between generations and encourages listeners to value their family history.
