Castro released "Azul" in 2001, and won the "Best Latin Pop Album of the Year" award.
Castro married Paraguayan, Gabriela Bo, in Asunción in 2003.

Además de su impecable interpretación, sus agudos muy apropiados en ciertos pasajes, acentuó la profundidad y el significado de la melodia. Notarán que sus agudos, que son lamentos, hacen que la melodía adquiera más sensibilidad y deja ver que, aunque la rechaza, la sigue amando.

Por fin una voz digna de interpretar las canciones que El Príncipe de la Canción convirtió en clásicos!! Orgullosamente mexicano, Cristian Castro encontró la fórmula!! José José debe estar muy orgulloso y satisfecho de tener ya un Príncipe Heredero!!! Son canciones nada fáciles, pero Cristian hace de ellas un juego fácil de jugar, maneja la voz como pocos, tiene los matices y la alegría que tenía José José... felicidades, siempre pensé que Cristian estaba desaprovechado. SALUD POR ESTE PRÍNCIPE!

Cuando un artista hace un álbum en homenaje a otro lo mejor que puede hacer es respetar la esencia del tema original, colocando su toque personal sin hacer perder lo que ese tema transmite. Y para mi Cristian Castro lo logró... pienso que José José debe estar muy satisfecho del trabajo realizado.
