We held our books instead of hands,

She held a blanket over cans of beer,
The girl covered some cans of beer with a blanket.

I can't deny I was so full of fear.
The artist admits to being scared in that moment.

It's just another story caught up in another photograph I found.

And it seems like another person lived that life a great many years ago from now,

I remember laughing cause to kiss me,
The artist laughs at the memory of the girl having to sit down to be at the same height to kiss them.

The had to sit down on a chair!
The girl had to sit on a chair to be able to kiss the artist.

She tasted like the schnapps she'd drunk,
The girl tasted like schnapps.

And the cigarette she'd stolen from her mum.
The girl had also smoked a cigarette she took from her mother.

When I look back on my ordinary, ordinary life,
The singer reflects again on their unremarkable life.

I see so much magic, though I missed it at the time.
Despite not appreciating the beauty of certain moments, the singer sees the magic in them now.
