1. A roots reggae band from Jamaica
2. A straight edge metalcore band from Florida, US
1. Culture was a Jamaican roots reggae group founded in 1976. Originally they were known as the African Disciples.
The members of the trio were Joseph Hill (lead vocals), Albert Walker (backing vocals) and Kenneth Dayes (backing vocals).
Shortly after Culture came together, they began working with the "Mighty Two" – producer Joe Gibbs and engineer Errol Thompson. While at Gibbs’ studio, they recorded a series of powerful singles, many of which ended up on their debut album ‘Two Sevens Clash’. After their success with Gibbs, the group went on to make a string of albums for producer Sonia Pottinger. Culture began working with some of the premier musicians of the day including Robbie Shakespeare, Sly Dunbar, Ansel Collins, Cedric Brooks and the ever-present percussionist Sticky. Virgin Records picked up the albums, and that added distribution enabled Culture to gain an even larger following outside of Jamaica.
Critically considered one of the most authentic traditional reggae acts, at the time of the first Rolling Stone Record Guide publication, they were the only band of any genre whose every recording received a five-star review (of bands with more than one recording in the guide).
In 1982 the three singers went their own ways. Hill carried on using the Culture name, and recorded the Lion Rock album, which was released in the United States by Heartbeat Records. For their part, Walker and Dayes recorded a handful of songs on their own – a few of which turned up on an album titled Roots & Culture. In 1986 the original line-up reformed to record two highly regarded albums – Culture in Culture and Culture at Work. These releases marked the beginning of a very busy period for the group, including annual albums and countless tours. The U.S. label Shanachie released a steady stream of new and old Culture albums up to Wings Of A Dove in 1992.
Joseph Hill, who came to symbolize the face of Culture, died in Germany on 19 August 2006 while the group was on tour. His son, Kenyatta Hill, now is the lead singer.
2) Classic mid/late 90s hardcore from Florida, celebrated for, among a handful of others, helping to cultivate the burgeoning metallic hardcore sound that became synonymous with the era.
CULTURE was known for aggressive social/political/ecological commentary, cautionary tales of reckless consumerism and industrial sprawl, and advocacy of the straightedge lifestyle.
Former members went on to Morning Again, Terror, As Friends Rust, Shai Hulud, Throwdown, Blood Has Been Shed and (most recently) ON BODIES.
In 2012, CULTURE played its first show since disbanding in 1998 (The Reel & Restless Fest in Miami, Florida). This fall, in August of 2013, the band will revisit Europe for Belgium's famed Ieper Hardcore Festival, and will then play three dates in Japan, including Tokyo's Bloodaxe Fest.

You can walk on the water, shine like a diamond
Ring the bells of fortune if you dare
You can make any move that you want to make
Take everything that you can if you dare
Just think the world is in your hands
Just think the world is in your hands
Think the world is in your hands
Stress on my mind, think I'll end it all, people tell me to stand tall
But I don't want to live, got nothing to give and I'm tired of hitting walls
They don't understand from where I come, my past not a pretty one
Scars, never stars, now I'm ready to quit and let this life be done
Some tell me to hold on, tell me to be strong, but the battle's too long
No fight left in me, but they don't comprehend that my will is all gone
Nothing to grasp, hope is past and my faith is in the trash
So save the love that you think I need, I'm going out with a blast
[Chorus:]
Troubles got me down, never got a break, just pain and heartache
Not looking for a reason to go on, no more, I've had all I can take
I'm tired of the same old thing, same old scene, death must now be king
I give up, I don't want to live up to the wicked hopes of society
Some say excel, but I still fail so well, just call me a pro
Reasons for failing, truth be known, I really don't care to know
It?s time to move on, time to be gone, farewell to my king
Just want to end this losing trend with a bullet and a shot of gin
[Chorus:]
Just think the world is in your hands
Just think the world is in your hands
Think the world is in your hands
Just think the world is in your hands
Just think the world is in your hands
Just think the world is in your hands
Think the world is in your hands
Just think the world is in your hands
The lyrics of Culture Beat's "World in Your Hands" reflect a feeling of hopelessness and despair from the singer's point of view. The chorus emphasizes that despite the fear and uncertainty of life, one can still exert control over their life and destiny. The chorus delivers a reassuring message that encourages listeners to take charge of their lives and not let fear and doubt dictate their actions. The phrase 'just think the world is in your hands' is a powerful affirmation that if you believe in yourself and your capabilities, anything is possible.
The first verse describes the singer's feelings of despair, hopelessness, and the desire to quit a life that has dealt them a terrible hand. The singer feels unsupported and unable to overcome the obstacles in their life. They have lost faith in themselves and the world around them. The second verse delves deeper into the reasons for the singer's despair, detailing their struggles and failures. They feel that their efforts have been futile, and they have no reason to continue trying. The lyrics paint a picture of a person at the end of their rope, with nothing left to live for.
Overall, the lyrics of "World in Your Hands" encourage listeners to harness their inner strength and take control of their lives. The song acknowledges the difficulties and pain experienced by many people, but ultimately it argues that the world is in our hands, and we must have faith in our abilities to effect change.

What say to Jah people dem?
Lorrd
Hand a bowl, knife a throat
No love in their heart
See dem come live with dem
Its a different thing
They love to give you basket to carry water
Deep within their hearts
Just pure war they are after
See dem come live with dem
Its a different thing
They all are!
Hand a bowl, knife a throat
No love in their heart
If you try to be good to them they call you the big boops stem
And if you try to be poor to us, they take you for a ride 'round town
They love to give you basket to carry water
Deep in their hearts
There aint no love
Just war they are after
See dem come live with dem
Its a different thing
They all are!
Hand a bowl, knife a throat
No love in their heart
Sometime you try to do good to all of them
And they tell you that the more you look, the less you see
The quickness of your eyes they say, is that deceive your body
See dem come live with dem
Its a different thing
They all are!
Hand a bowl, knife a throat
No love in their heart
No want no!
Hand a bowl, knife a throat
No love in their heart
Some keep smiling beside you close
And when you come to check dem, dem a Judas
See dem come live with dem
Its a different thing
They all are!
Hand a bowl, knife a throat
No love in their heart
Me no want no!
Hand a bowl, knife a throat
No love in their heart
