Curren$y had an underground hit in 2006, Where Da Cash At, which can be heard on several of Lil' Wayne's mixtapes, including Dedication 2. He was featured on Lil Wayne's song "Grown Man" from the album Tha Carter II. Due to certain issues concerning the release of his album Music 2 Fly 2, he left Young Money and formed his Fly Society crew with professional skateboarder and rapper Terry Kennedy.
He has since focused on his Jets movement, which helped introduce various rappers such as Trademark da Skydiver, Young Roddy, Fendi P and T.Y., as well as slightly reintroduce No Limit veteran Fiend to new audiences. He later started to work in New York with Ski Beatz and other MCs at Dame Dash's DD172; where he released Pilot Talk and its sequel Pilot Talk II both in 2010, and was also featured on several songs on Ski Beatz' 24 Hour Karate School. Since then, Curren$y has put out eight more albums, 25 EPs and 43 mixtapes.

Curren$y Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Kick it on your street like bad Chris and them garbage cans
Awww man, them bitches think I'm ballin
So they behaving differently when I be in New Orleans
I'm falling back off her, they crawling back on them
Not half way complaining just making a true statement
Which quite basically is was missing from this game we in
Create the world in which you trying to live in kid
But best believe I take bring em with me anywhere I is
What a hater say will never affect the way I live
Or where I go, just make me fuck they bitches in they crib
The game I got was raw and given to him by slim
Referring to himself in the third when he on them herb
Make sure I don't park outside in the streets
But don't get too close to the curb
Jet life too high for them birds
In the first line, Curren$y starts off by saying that he is high and then references his gritty upbringing by comparing himself to the garbage cans on the streets where he would kick it with his friends. The next lines talk about how women are treating him differently now that he's successful and Curren$y notes that he doesn't care about that. He then goes on to talk about friends who have passed away or are in prison, but he always takes them with him wherever he goes. He doesn't let haters get to him and even uses their jealousy as an opportunity to sleep with their women.
The last few lines are a reflection on the game he's in- the music industry. He acknowledges that it's a tough game and that he's had to work for the success he's found. The line "Create the world in which you trying to live in kid" is a call to action for anyone trying to make it in the music industry: they have to create their own lane and make their own opportunities. The verse ends with a reference to Slim, who Curren$y often references in his music as his mentor. He ends by saying that he's too high up to mess with anyone who isn't on his level.
