These were "Pretty Little Angel Eyes" (U.S. Top 10) and "Under The Moon Of Love" (U.S. Top 50). In the UK, "Pretty Little Angel Eyes" was a minor hit record, going no higher than 47 in 1961.
Lee began his recording career in 1959, and the following year was signed by Dunes Records. Handsome and photogenic, Lee had a vocal approach close to the teen idols of the period. Spector's genius with the productions, besides his deft handling of the instrumental support, was to provide fills with strong doo-wop riffing from an R&B vocal group, The Halos, to produce two classic rock 'n' roll tunes.
Without Spector's guiding hand however, the hits simply dried up around 1968.

Great track which I've never heard before. Thanks for posting. Always loved Pretty Little Angel Eyes and still have my original 45 of Under The Moon Of Love, another great song by Curtis. I never understood why he was never a big star as he had great songs, great looks and was much better than some of his contemporaries.

Curtis was very versatile, on this he sounds like Ricky Nelson.

@maydom04 I had to look to be sure and the answer is yes. Also I got the year of birth wrong as they changed it on Wikipedia. He was born in 1939 and that would have made him 75.

Cutis was a rockabilly singer hey cause that r&r wasn't played here in Seattle/Vancouver. Preety Little Angel Eyes was however. David Gates too wasn't played here until the seventies when he hooked up with a band called Bread and hit the big time here. Itwas all mainstram stuff here, you know, Buddy Knox, Chuck Berry, Skip & Flip, Bobby Darin, Connie Francxis, The Tornados, The Crests, Chubby, Shelley Fabraes etc etc...there was none of good ol' rockabilly r&r here, I missed it!
