Give me tracks and I'll race your heart beat
I'm in line for a drastic change
Wanna drive where they'll never find me
The night was out to get me
We Let go of everything
Growing dull, should be sharpening
Growing up can you do that with me
Don't trust another killer with your heart again
This is where we stand up to their fire and wind
And They won't stop our tidal wave
We're Rushing to amends that they guilt us in
Done with starting over and their medicine
They won't stop our tidal wave
You're the perfect amount of rage
Just enough til we both feel away
Volunteered to be led this way
With you I can't lie you hold the sunlight
Dressing up melancholically
Something black with your eyes on me
Educate me about these things
I need to wake up it's time to wake up
Don't trust another killer with your heart again
This is where we stand up to their fire and wind
And They won't stop our tidal wave
We're Rushing to amends that they guilt us in
Done with starting over and their medicine
They won't stop our tidal wave
Give em a war
Don't trust another killer with your heart again
This is where we stand up to their fire and wind
And They won't stop our tidal wave
We're Rushing to amends that they guilt us in
Done with starting over and their medicine
They won't stop our tidal wave
Give em a war
The lyrics of Curtis Peoples's song "Tidal Wave" convey a sense of defiance and empowerment in the face of adversity. The song starts off by asking for time to waste and a challenge to race against one's heartbeat. This desire for change is expressed through the metaphor of wanting to drive where they'll never be found, indicating a longing for escapism and freedom. The night is portrayed as a threat, but despite that, there is a willingness to let go of everything and embrace a new beginning. The theme of growing up and evolving together is also present, suggesting a desire for a deep and meaningful connection with someone.
The chorus emphasizes the need to be cautious with one's heart and not trust another "killer" with it, implying past experiences of heartbreak and disappointment. It urges standing up against external forces that try to extinguish one's passion and drive. The metaphor of a tidal wave symbolizes the unstoppable force of their determination and resilience. They are rushing to make amends and refusing to be burdened by guilt and starting over again. The defiance in the lyrics is further exemplified by the line "Give em a war," indicating a willingness to fight back against those who try to bring them down.
