Pink
Cynic Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Can the pink skin vacate its sweat?
And the breaking neon cement
Did we make a ton of ways
To remove our pragmatic face?

In a dash she made his way,To the roof of the highest place
He went on the boiling floor
Getting sun burnt 34 stories down

Teddly-um-bum bum bum!

Overall Meaning

In Cynic's song "Pink," the lyrics explore various aspects of human existence and the potential desire to escape from societal norms and expectations. The first lines, "Can the pink skin vacate its sweat? And the breaking neon cement," suggest a contemplation of whether one can detach themselves from the physical and materialistic aspects of life. The reference to "pink skin" represents our human nature, while "breaking neon cement" symbolizes the constructed reality we live in.

The following lines, "Did we make a ton of ways to remove our pragmatic face?" delve into the notion of how society encourages conformity and pragmatism, perhaps suggesting that we have artificially created ways to hide our true selves. The lyrics hint at a longing for freedom from these constraints.

The next set of lyrics introduces a character who is willing to go against the norm. "In a dash she made his way, to the roof of the highest place," suggests a person who is determined to break free from societal boundaries. The line "Getting sun burnt 34 stories down" could be interpreted metaphorically, signifying the potential consequences and risks of pursuing individuality and freedom.

The concluding line, "Teddly-um-bum bum bum!," serves as a playful and whimsical way to conclude the song, perhaps indicating a sense of irony or lightheartedness amidst the deeper themes explored in the lyrics.

one thing i noticed about vash, even though he's the main character, he usually shows up in a secondary character fashion. like instead of opening with cash, it often opens with milly and maryl, or some random people, and then vash appears as some passerby or a customer, or just later into the episode, like in the episode where the bar gets captured, vash doesnt come in til after its been taken over, and enters the fray in the background dancing, like a secondary character. maybe its just me. =\

@Fishmaster03

From the Wiki:"While Vash is the manga's protagonist, anime director Satoshi Nishimura used Meryl Stryfe as the main character." So yeah, you're spot on.

@shithoagie

Well yeah. The show isn't really about Vash so much as it's about his reputation. So the audience learns about him using his friends as stand-ins. To start, you could say the show is specifically about Milly and Meryl trying to collect on his debts, until the Gung-ho Guns show up.

@arkuler7973

@Fishmaster03 but once legato rolls in it focused on him more right?

@Fisj

I like these observations

@spacepopefrances

@Arkuler That's true, but in a lot of ways, I still felt like the show was about Milly and Meryl powering through and struggling to keep up with Vash.

I love how when he realizes that he doesn't have his cross, he looks everywhere: around him, at Vash, in his pocket, at the enemy, and then under his leg before looking at the car.
