Already Gone
Dallas Crane Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Was over in one night
Some dark sides are better unknown
Stay young, stay gold
If you think I'll come around slowly
I'm already gone
She got a man on the wrong side
They'll fly down one day
And take me far away
The world won't cry and they won't know
Just how far I'll go
Throw your book at someone else man
I'm already gone
I've beat out the stains in my laundry
I'm already gone
If you think I'll come around slowly
I'm already gone
They got a man on the wrong side
I'm already gone
They got a man on the wrong side
I'm already gone
In the song "Already Gone" by Dallas Crane, the singer starts by telling us that the girl he just hooked up with is not his type, and that it was over in one night. The line "Some dark sides are better unknown" implies that there could have been some underlying issues with the girl that he was not aware of. The next set of lines, "Stay young, stay gold" could be the singer trying to tell himself to not get bogged down in relationships and to keep living life with a free spirit.
The chorus has a sense of finality to it, with lines like "If you think I'll come around slowly, I'm already gone" and "She got a man on the wrong side, I'm already gone", indicating that the singer has moved on and he won't be coming back. "They'll fly down one day and take me far away" could refer to the singer dreaming of escaping his current life and starting anew somewhere else. The line "I've beat out the stains in my laundry" further emphasizes how the singer has moved on and is leaving behind any negative aspects of his life.
Overall, "Already Gone" has a sense of liberation and moving forward, with the singer leaving behind a one night stand that he realized was not right for him. The chorus packs a punch with lines that perfectly encapsulate the feelings of leaving something behind and starting anew.
