Jurado's solo career began during the mid-1990s, releasing lo-fi folk based recordings on his own cassette-only label, Casa Recordings, beginning in 1995.
Jurado often makes use of found-sound and field-recording techniques, and has experimented with different forms of tape recordings. In 2000 he released Postcards and Audio Letters, a collection of found audio letters and fragments that he had found from sources such as thrift store tape players and answering machines. Also released in 2000 was Ghost of David,, Jurado's bleakest and most personal sounding record to date. I Break Chairs, (2002) was produced by long time friend, David Bazan. It was his last album for Sub Pop, and was a much rockier, electric affair. After signing for the Indiana-based label Secretly Canadian, Damien Jurado reverted to his trademark folk ballad-based style, releasing six more albums: Where Shall You Take Me? (2003), On My Way To Absence (2005), And Now That I'm In Your Shadow (2006), Caught in the Trees (2008), Saint Bartlett (2010) and Maraqopa (2012).

Silver Timothy
Damien Jurado Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Shape was her friend
And the color was few
We were down on the town /
Climbing into the with the begin
Go back down
Dont touch the ground
Go back down
Go back down
Dont touch the ground
Go back down
Dont touch the ground
I was down on the road and I fix
Took a .with a supply
You can never go home
never show
Sparks with remember above .
Go back down
Dont touch the ground
Go back down
Dont touch the ground
Go back down
Dont touch the ground
Go back down
Dont touch the ground
The lyrics of Damien Jurado's Silver Timothy appear to be somewhat cryptic and open to interpretation. The singer is describing an encounter with someone new, possibly a romantic interest or a friend. The lyrics "Shape was her friend and the color was few" suggest that this person was not flashy or overly colorful, but simple and unpretentious. They are out and about in town, and perhaps feeling a bit reckless, as they sing "Climbing into the with the begin."
As the song continues, the lyrics become more abstract, referring to a "supply" that they have taken and the idea that "You can never go home, never show." This may suggest a feeling of being lost, or disconnected from one's roots. The repeated phrase "Go back down, don't touch the ground" could be taken as a mantra, perhaps a way of focusing one's thoughts or centering oneself.
Ultimately, the meaning of Silver Timothy remains somewhat elusive. However, some have suggested that the song may be about the idea of seeking out new experiences and leaving behind the safety and comfort of one's past. The repeated refrain of "Go back down, don't touch the ground" could be seen as a way of reminding oneself to stay grounded and avoid getting carried away by the excitement of the moment.
