Think About That
Dandy Livingstone Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You can take the boy from the country
But you can′t take the country from him
You can lead the cow to the water
But you can't force it to drink yea

Think about think that
Think about the world
Some do
Some don′t
Think about that
Think about the world
Some will
Some won't

If the rain should refuse to fall
Then the flowers they just wouldn't grow
If the sun, moon and stars didn′t shine
Darkness would be hanging high

Think about think that
Think about the world
Some do
Some don′t
Think about that
Think about the world
Some will
Some won't

Instrument playing

Hate and greed is all I see
Still waters becoming raging seas
Hungry mouths for all a feed
The Storm of life of chastities
Some people making plans for wars
Others protesting for peace
Man is heading nearer to his fall
Soon there won′t be another dawn

Think about think that
Think about the world
Some do
Some don't
Think about that
Think about the world
Some will
Some won′t

Think about think that
Think about the world

Some do
Some don't

Overall Meaning

In the opening lines of Dandy Livingstone's song Think About That, he talks about how it is impossible to remove the country from a boy who has grown up in it. The verse can be interpreted as a metaphorical representation of how one's upbringing and surroundings shape them for life. The next two lines "You can lead the cow to the water, but you can't force it to drink" further reiterate the same idea regarding free will and how it plays a role in shaping one's personality.

As the song progresses, Livingstone urges people to think about the world and the various realities that exist within it. He emphasizes the fact that there are many people who choose not to care and don't think about the world and its problems. The chorus "Think about that, Think about the world, some do, some don't" is almost like a reminder to people to consider the state of the world and their role in it.

The following two verses draw attention to issues such as hate, greed, hunger, and war. Livingstone paints a bleak picture of the world, where people are protesting for peace while others are busy planning wars. He warns that if humankind continues down this path, there won't be any more dawn.

This song tells us a lot about the power of free will and how people's beliefs and upbringings shape their personalities. It also serves as a reminder to people to be aware of the world's many problems and do their part to make the planet a better place.
