Dark Moor began the recording sessions for their second album, The Hall of the Olden Dreams, in August 2000 at New Sin Studios with producer Luigi Stefanini. During these recording sessions, the band recorded their cover of "Halloween", which was included on the CD The Keepers of Jericho part I - A Tribute to Helloween (Arise Records).

The band played 18 gigs at festivals such as Rock Machina, Viña Rock and Nit De Reis. After the first part of the tour, keyboardist Roberto Peña left the band and they were forced to finish the tour with a guest musician.
In August 2003 Dark Moor recorded four new exclusive acoustic tracks along with a string quartet, to be included in Between Light and Darkness, which was released in April 2003. Due to differing points of view regarding the musical direction for the next Dark Moor album, vocalist Elisa Martin, guitarist Albert Maroto and drummer Jorge Sáez decided to leave Dark Moor to start a new band.
The two remaining members of the band decided to start a search for new members. After the auditions, they accepted vocalist Alfred Romero, guitarist Jose Garrido, and drummer Andy C.

On 23 November 2006, the band announced the departure of their drummer on their official website, due to "incompatibility with his other musical projects." He would go on to play drums for Saratoga. His replacement, Roberto Cappa, was previously in the Spanish metal band Anima Sola.
In January 2009, their seventh album Autumnal was released.
The band made an announcement on their website, dated 4 June 2010, that their eighth album was in the works. It featured Berenice Musa as a guest vocalist. The album is titled Ancestral Romance and it was released in November 2010.
On 18 June 2013 the band released their ninth album Ars Musica, with the Japanese limited version including a bonus CD with five bonus tracks. They toured Mexico and Asia the same year, as well as few dates in Europe in 2014 to support the new album.
Dark Moor started recording their 10th studio album, Project X, on 27 July 2015 and released it in Europe on 6 November 2015 on Scarlet Records.
On 21 July 2018, Enrik Garcia, guitarist and founder of the band, announced via Facebook that their next album would be called Origins and that, after the parenthesis they did with ufology themes on Project X, they would return to their habitual themes; Origins will be about the celtic world, also adding celtic instruments on their new songs. This album has been released on 12 December 2018.
The Moon
Dark Moor Lyrics

Full moon in the height
Full moon in the night
Influence of the Moon
Can make an artist or a loon
of loves
[choir]
Spirit, like the moon
Can be an expanded white balloon
which hovers
[bridge:]
Life is a dream
When it reflects a gleam
that we catch as the essence
Which is hidden in the beam
Feel the Moon
[chorus:]
It is the daughter of mystic water
We hear the tune played
by the light of the moon
Intuition is condition to
understand the moonlight
It means is clean mind
see.. feel.. love.. hear
The Moon!
Listen to the Moon!
O, listen to the Moon!
The Moon!
We are deceived
by what's believed
lies of the moon
Our soul have strewn
watching the other
side someone thinks
that is a mother
What seemed a sphinx
The moon deludes
The moon is shrewd
The moon misleads
The moon obtrudes
The moon inside...
[choir]
Fantasy fades soon
when not supported by the moon
In crescent
[choir]
Fancies sends the moon
and they are granted as a boon
or present
[bridge]
[chorus]
The calling of the moon
O, the moon serenade
Music played by the moonlight
The moon in the morning must fade
at night can evermore rise
It is the night maid
in daytime disguise
of morning afraid
[choir]
Influence of the moon
can make an artist or a loon
of lovers
[bridge]
[Chorus]
Below the moon
within the silent night
we hear it's sounding light
It's music is the movement
of emotions which are burning
in the sweetness of creation
recreated by the magic
force of love
It's the motion of sensations
returning to imagination
In the deepness resonated
by the magic of the moon
It's the movement it's the motion
of emotions of sensations
they are burning they're returning
recreated by the magic, magic, of the
burning by the magic, magic
of the Moon
Below the Moon!
The lyrics to Dark Moor's song "The Moon" discuss the influence and power that the moon holds over humans, particularly artists and lovers. The first verse is sung by a choir who repeatably sing "Full moon in the height, full moon in the night, Influence of the Moon, Can make an artist or a loon, of loves." This is in reference to the belief that the full moon can cause people to act strangely, hence the saying "there must be a full moon." The choir continues to sing about how the spirit is like the moon, it can be white and expansive and hover.
The second verse is a bridge that speaks of life being a dream, and how catching the essence of that dream is hidden in the beam of the moon. The chorus is a powerful call to listen to and understand the moon. The moon is referred to as the daughter of mystic water and that intuition is required to understand its light. The moon is a symbol of a clean mind and one should listen and hear the moon.
The rest of the song is a repetition of the above verses with the addition of how the moon can make one an artist or a loon, and how fantasy fades without the support of the moon. The bridge and chorus repeat the same themes, emphasizing the importance of the moon in understanding and interpreting our emotions. Overall, the song is an ode to the power and importance of the moon in our lives.
