Walhalla
Dark Moor Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The furthest one, the blac,
Lonely and gloomy sand
The bridge's narrow and thin
The sentry waits patiently
People to pass it
In despair but valiantly
No one looked back with grief
No one changed his face
No one felt relieved
You sense their noisy treads
And look the stone face
And they seem the dead
Of a forgotten race
[chorus]
Last land, last land
With the sword in my hand
Just a word I can hardly say
While our foe we slay... Walhalla!
Mighty Odin just states
No surrender but defeat
Real warriors learn too late
That die is like to beat
Glory in war is always better
Than honour, love and wealth
Written in golden letters
Present and future destroyed by strength
All of them, have been killed
Wthout dropping their blade
Ranks of gods, have been filled
To make war when giants invades
Valkiries have chooses their sore
Warriors doomed the fall
Leading them into war
In the days of armageddon
The song "Walhalla" by Dark Moor speaks about the realm of Valhalla, the final resting place of brave warriors chosen to enter the halls of the gods. The lyrics suggest that no living mortal could ever return from the forgotten land of Valhalla, where the bridge leading to it is narrow and guarded by a sentry. The song describes the warriors who marched towards the land of the gods as fearless and valiant, without showing any grief or reluctance towards dying. They are portrayed as walking towards certain death with sword in hand, ready to fight their foes and reach the gates of the gods.
The chorus emphasizes the ultimate goal of the warriors, to reach the final destination of Walhalla, where they will be received with honor and glory. The song emphasizes the Norse values of bravery and the importance of dying in battle, as attaining glory in war is deemed better than honor, love, and wealth. The lyrics also talk about how the Valkyries choose the warriors who will join the ranks of the gods in their battles against the giants.
Overall, the song Walhalla glorifies the idea of dying bravely in battle, to be chosen to enter the realm of the gods, where one would enjoy eternal honor and glory.
