But that's the biggest lie of the day
So dig it down into the ground
That you don't want anything
And it's true it hurts to wake up
There was a couple of years for me, too
When my brain was black and blue
Silverjacketgirl, you've got
The whole world in your head
Say you weren't waiting for anyone or anything
You weren't waiting for anything
You weren't waiting to come back
You were dead
A dive into the blues
I'm warning you
Some half-hearted truth
Some way of sliding through to the other side
Well, all it takes is calming down
All it takes is getting down
The lyrics of Silverjacketgirl by David & The Citizens tell the story of someone who is struggling with depression, and the message is that it is important to accept and acknowledge one's emotions in order to overcome them. The opening lines of the song express the idea that the biggest lie someone can tell themselves is that they don't feel anything. The singer advises the listener to dig deep and confront their feelings even if it hurts.
The chorus of the song is directed towards a specific person, referenced as "Silverjacketgirl," who is feeling dead inside. The singer tells her that she has the whole world in her head, and that she wasn't waiting for anything. The message here could be interpreted as encouraging her to take control of her own life and not wait for something external to give her purpose.
The second verse of the song is a warning to the listener that confronting one's emotions can be difficult, and there may be some half-hearted truth along the way. However, the singer assures the listener that it is possible to come out the other side by calming down and accepting their emotions.
Overall, Silverjacketgirl is a powerful and empathetic song that encourages listeners to confront and accept their emotions in order to overcome difficult times.
