David Bisbal Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
No I, I don?t want your?used to be?s?
No, don?t try to rescue me
Leave me with my dignity
?Cause I?ve been down before
Take back the memories
It just wasn?t meant to be
You wonder what you?re sacrifcing for
Find you just can?t fight no more
You told me it would never end
You showed me how to live again
You gave me air so I could breathe
Now you?re taking it away from me
You promised me I?d never cry
But of everything you showed me how to do
You never showed me how to stop loving you
You, you were the bad advice
That I, I just didn?t recognize
You wonder what you?re sacrificing for
There comes a time when you will
Find you just can?t take no more
You told me it would never end
You showed me how to live again
You gave me air so I could breathe
Now you?re taking it away from me
You promised me I?d never cry
But of everything you showed me how to do
You never showed me how to stop
Think of all we could have
Been it hurts me just remembering
I could never understand
Don?t you see what?s slipping
From your hands?
You told me it would never end
You showed me how to live again
You gave me air so I could breathe
Now you?re taking it away from me
You promised me I?d never cry
But of everything you showed me how to do
You never showed me how to stop loving you
You never showed me how to stop loving you
The lyrics of David Bisbal's song "Stop Loving You" portray a sense of emotional turmoil and inner conflict as the singer grapples with the idea of moving on from a past relationship. The opening lines show a sense of defiance and independence, as the singer asserts that they do not need sympathy or wish to dwell on the past memories of the relationship. There is a strong desire for self-respect and dignity, indicating a need to break free from the emotional bonds that once tied them to the other person.
Throughout the song, there is a recurring theme of disappointment and betrayal, as the singer reflects on being misled by false promises of everlasting love and happiness. The lyrics suggest a sense of disillusionment and hurt, as the singer realizes that the relationship was not meant to last and that they were possibly led astray by the other person's words and actions. There is a poignant sense of loss and longing for what could have been, as well as a gradual realization that the love they once cherished has now turned into a source of pain.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the conflicting emotions that the singer experiences, as they recount how the other person had once shown them how to live and breathe, only to now take it all away. There is a sense of betrayal and confusion as the singer grapples with the idea of being left to fend for themselves without the guidance and support they once relied on. The lyrics express a deep-seated sadness and vulnerability, highlighting the struggle to come to terms with the end of a significant relationship and the difficulty of letting go of the love they once felt.
In the final verse, the singer reflects on the impossibility of stopping their feelings of love despite the pain it brings. The lyrics capture the internal battle of wanting to move on and forget the past while still holding onto the memories and emotions tied to the other person. There is a sense of resignation and acceptance, as the singer acknowledges that they were never taught how to stop loving the other person, despite the hurt and heartache it brings. Overall, the song conveys a complex mix of emotions, from defiance and anger to sorrow and resignation, as the singer navigates the aftermath of a broken relationship.
