It was in 2006 that David Walters released Awa, his first album on the Ya Basta label! with the single "Mesi bon dyé", an adaptation of a prayer written by the Haitian guitarist Frantz Casseus in 1954. Three years later, in 2009, he released Home, teaming up with artists as Asa or Arthur H.
In 2011, he was selected by Canal + to host the program "Les Nouveaux Explorateurs". From then on, we see him traveling to the four corners of the world, in Africa, in South America or in Asia to meet colorful characters who live by and for music. Influenced by these trips, David Walters produced the NeverStopExploring mixtape in 2015 before leaving, this time for New Orleans, to participate in the Nola Is Calling project which builds bridges between the city and its African roots.
He released Soleil Kréyol under the Heavenly Sweetness label on the 31th of December 2019 teaming up this time with Seun Kuti, Ibrahim Maalouf, Vincent Segal, Marine Thibault and Célia wa.

Tout zétwal anlè menm larèl-la
Limiè-a ka montré nou chimen nou
Pa ni haza, yein ki rendez-vous
Temps ka aidé nou oublié
Anba la lin clè, nou ka kité'y filé
Grif nan tèt, tèt nan lè
Ki si swa yo fè, kis si swa yo di
Sa ki fo, sé tous sa nou pé fè
Sa ki fo, sé an tous sa nou ka kwè
Sa ki fo, sé an lov an doucè
Sa ki fo, gadé douvan zyé ouvè
Sa ki fo, sé an lov'
Sa ki fo, sé an doucè
Sa ki fo, sé an lov'
Sa ki fo
Gimme gimme gimme you give me love, I know, I know
You gimme love, I know, I know
And I know, I know, I know, I know
And I know, I know, I know, I know
Hustle in fadama

Tick tock, tick tock
Time we for dey wake up
Wake dey alert chale reason
Clear your eye top
Enobe what we vote for
See we for dey focus
Tricky tricky politician
Trying to kill my mind off
Hossana nyame save us
From Accra to Lagos
On and off electric begging sugar from my neighbours
Confusion and chaos
Corruption in the papers
Obia nyame obia so your huuhu nogo break us
Gimme some love, all I need, all I need
I needa gimme some love, all I need, all I need
You gimme love, I know, I know
You gimme love, I know, I know
And I know, I know, I know, I know
And I know, I know, I know, I know
You gimme love, I know, I know
You gimme love, I know, I know
And I know, I know, I know, I know
And I know, I know, I know, I know
Sa ki fo, gimme the love, yes I know say sa ki fo
Sa ki fo, gimme the love, yes I know say sa ki fo
Sa ki fo, gimme the love, yes I know say sa ki fo
Sa ki fo, gimme the love, yes I know say sa ki fo
Sa ki fo, sé tous sa nou pé fè (sa ki fo, gimme the love, yes I know say sa ki fo)
Sé an lov an doucè (sa ki fo, gimme the love, yes I know say sa ki fo)
Nou tout ka allé an menm direction -an (sa ki fo, gimme the love, yes I know say sa ki fo)
Nou ka fè kon nou pé (sa ki fo, gimme the love, yes I know say sa ki fo)
Sé sa ki fo, sé sa ki fo, sé an lov', lov '
The lyrics to David Walters's song "Gimme Love" convey a message of unity and the need for love and positivity in the face of challenges and corruption. The opening lines, "Yeah, linivè ja désidé ba nou / Tout zétwal anlè menm larèl-la" suggest that the universe has decided to give us all the same platform, indicating that we are all equal and deserving of love and happiness. The lyrics emphasize the importance of staying true to oneself and embracing all experiences, good or bad. It encourages letting go of negativity and embracing love in its gentle and sweet form. The repetition of "sa ki fo" (what is necessary) highlights the importance of love as a necessary component in life. The chorus, "Gimme gimme gimme you give me love, I know, I know / You gimme love, I know, I know" expresses the desire for love and acknowledges its presence in one's life. The verses touch upon political corruption, social issues, and the need for change and awakening. Overall, the lyrics call for love, unity, and the recognition of our shared humanity.
