Stolen Youth
Deadline Lyrics

Young and bored you didn't understand
But you didn't believe us
You needed proof
Now they stole two years of your youth
Now you're a man
Spent your youth on the run
You missed all the fun
They stole your youth
You come home you're glad
You're still fucking alive
Hiding in a tent
That was no place to hide
But you didn't believe us
You needed proof
Now they stole two years of your youth
Now you're a man
Spent your youth on the run
It's too late now
You missed all the fun
They stole your youth
They stole your youth (x4)
But now you're a man
Spent your youth on the run
It's too late now
You missed all the fun
They stole your youth
The lyrics of Deadline's song "Stolen Youth" depict the harrowing reality of war and its impact on the lives of young soldiers. The song's opening lines suggest that the soldiers were promised that the war would make them into men, but they were unaware of the true consequences of war until it was too late. The line "But you didn't believe us, you needed proof" could imply that the soldiers were reluctant to go to war, but they had to go anyway, perhaps due to societal expectations or pressure from loved ones.
The chorus of the song repeats the line "They stole your youth" several times, emphasizing the fact that war robs young people of their formative years, experiences, and opportunities. The final verse suggests that the soldiers have returned home from the battlefield and are glad to still be alive. However, the experience has changed them, and they have missed out on the fun and excitement of their younger years.
Overall, "Stolen Youth" portrays war as a traumatic experience that can have a profound and lasting impact on young people's lives, robbing them of their childhood, innocence, and sense of self.
