Kill your television

I am so confused, I'm not amused
By the bullshit that you're ramming down my throat
Yet, I sit and stare; The mindless glare
That does nothing but get in my fucking way
I can't believe the fucking words you say
Got to find the strength to break away
From this darkness and anxiety
Got to find the strength to break on through
The solution is always hard to see
Kill your television!
Hey, why can't it wait another day?
I can hear the little voices whispering
Yet, I sit and stare; The mindless glare
That does nothing but get in my fucking way
I can't believe the fucking words you say
Why can't I just turn away?
Got to find the strength to break away
From this darkness and anxiety
Got to find the strength to break on through
The solution is always hard to see
Kill your television!
These talking heads are all the same
They say that I'm the one to blame
The propaganda spills
You know it's driving me insane
These talking heads are all the same
They say that you're the one to blame
The propaganda spills
You know it's driving me insane
I can't believe the fucking words you say
Why can't I just turn away?
Got to find the strength to break away
From this darkness and anxiety
Got to find the strength to break on through
The solution is always hard to see
Kill your television
Kill your television
Kill your television
Kill your television!
The lyrics of Deadsun's "Kill Your Television" can be interpreted as a call to break free from the influence of mass media, particularly television. The song begins with the singer expressing his confusion and frustration with the "bullshit" that is being "rammed down [his] throat" through the mindless and distracting glare of the television. The singer recognizes that he needs to find the strength to break away from this darkness and anxiety, which he sees as caused by the constant influence of mass media. He argues that the solution is always hard to see, but that it is necessary to "kill your television" and break free from the propaganda that is driving him insane.
The song appears to be an indictment of the negative effects of mass media on individuals' mental health and sense of independence. The lyrics describe the "talking heads" of television media as all the same, pumping out propaganda that adds to anxiety and confusion. The singer urges the listener to find the strength to "break on through" from the media's toxic influence and find their own solutions to their problems. The repetition of the catchphrase "Kill your television" at the end emphasizes a desire to be freed from media's grip.
