Im Overflow
Death Grips Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Where'd he go?
Federal cloaked key and lock shit
I am overflow, undertow shots licked
Dopamine hot shit
In the opening lines of "Im Overflow" by Death Grips, the singer is declaring themselves as an entity that is overflowing with energy and emotion. They describe being caught in an undertow and taking shots, resulting in a sense of disorientation and the question of "where'd he go?" This creates a tone of chaos and confusion. The lyrics are also heavily influenced by drug culture, with mentions of dopamine and hot shit. As the song continues, the singer becomes more aggressive, using vulgar language and violence to convey their intense emotions.
The next line, "Federal cloaked key and lock shit," brings a political undertone to the song. The phrase references the government's ability to lock up any citizen they deem a threat, disconnecting them from society and locking them up in prisons. It could also be interpreted as a symbol of oppression, with the singer suggesting that they are being held down by a system that is out of their control.
Overall, "Im Overflow" is a high-energy, aggressive track that delves into themes of drug use, political oppression, and emotional turmoil.
