Deep Insight was formed in early 2002 in Kokkola, Finland by childhood friends Jukka (vocals) and Johannes (guitar). They soon found Joachim (drums) and Kaj (bass), cousins to each other, to complete the band.
The first release, Julia ep, was a theme record focused around the life and death of Julia, a character created by Jukka and Johannes on their crazy road trip to Paris in the winter of 2001. It actually gained many good reviews, most of them praising the young band’s promising songwriting and Jukka’s exceptional voice. It also got the band’s name spread around the music industry.
In 2003 big things started to happen for Deep Insight. The band recorded their debut album Ivory Tower at Soundtrack Studios in Helsinki, Finland, and Kaj was replaced by Miska on bass. Miska instantly gave a whole new meaning to sayings “ripping the bass” and “man uses his instrument like he uses his women”. The album came out in May, and the band started their first ever European tour.
Timing was perfect; Deep Insight’s mix of American rock and emo with Scandinavian influences was received with great enthousiasm amongst the audience and critics. It was only back home in Finland where the response was more reserved. Deep Insight soon returned to Germany, The Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and Latvia for summer festivals, and in October, it was time for the third foreign tour, a 5-week European adventure.
The second album "Red Lights, White Lines" was recorded and mixed in June-July 2004 with producers Jens Bogren (Katatonia, Lambretta) and Jonas Olsson (Callisto), who also supervised the pre-production before letting the band enter one of Sweden’s finest studios, Fascination Street (ex-Kuling) in Örebro. Finally, the album was mastered by Thomas Eberger (Bo Kaspers Orkester, Nine, Raised Fist) at Cutting Room in Stockholm, Sweden. And the sound and songs turned out great. Some critics gave it a rating 10/10 some gave it a 3/5.
Joachim decided to move to pastures new after the recording sessions and in came Ville. The third album "One Minute Too Late" came out in 2006 and is stylistically more diverse, including e.g. Mexican influences (on Five Minute Murder). After a while Miska also decided to leave the band, and along came Jore to fill his place.
After a little break in July 2008 the band was back to the studio recording new album. And this time they spent more time on making it instead of the usual one month locked inside. The release of the album is due to next spring. However, first single Rock With My Band will hit the stores in Finland on the 18th of February and digitally released on the 2nd of February in iTunes.
Deep Insight is back on the road and the Eropean tour starts in the end of April 2009.

One Step At A Time
Deep Insight Lyrics

Away
Your home is a wreck but your love is not dead
The faint-hearted dwell in sorrow
You'll rest your eyes tomorrow
One step at a time
Something's gonna change, baby
I'm the one to blame
I can make it right
I'm not gonna leave you
Crying alone in the night
Was born to say I'm sorry
Never learned to take life as it comes
My home is a wreck but my love is not dead
The faint-hearted dwell in sorrow
I'll rest my eyes tomorrow
One step at a time
Something's gonna change, baby
Look in my eyes
I'm the one to blame
I can make it right
I'm not gonna leave you
Crying alone in the night
We're placing our bets, praying for a change now
Look what we get
Nothing really changed
I can make it right
I'm not gonna leave you
Crying alone in the night
Times like these I'd give anything to go back and start
Over again
And times like these I can't waste all my hate on you
And still it won't change one thing
Still nothing, nothing can take me away from you
Away from you
One step at a time
Something's gonna change, baby
Look in my eyes
I'm the one to blame
I can make it right
I'm not gonna leave you
Crying alone in the night
We're placing our bets, praying for a change now
Look what we get
Nothing really changed
I can make it right
I'm not gonna leave you
Crying alone in the night
The song “One Step At A Time” by Deep Insight is a moving depiction of the struggle to overcome difficult circumstances in life. The lyrics speak to the feeling of being trapped in a situation that seems insurmountable, with a life that has been dreamed away but not yet achieved. The imagery of a wrecked home and a faint hearted spirit that dwells in sorrow add to the sense of impending defeat.
However, the chorus of the song offers hope in the face of these struggles. The phrase “One step at a time” is repeated several times, reminding the listener that making progress is possible even when it feels impossible. The singer, who is “the one to blame” for the situation, promises to make things right and not leave his loved one “crying alone in the night”. Despite the disappointment of failed efforts, the singer maintains a determination to keep placing one foot in front of the other and praying for change.
This song is a powerful message of resilience and determination in the face of adversity. It acknowledges the difficulties of life but encourages the listener to keep moving forward and not give up hope.
