Deep Insight was formed in early 2002 in Kokkola, Finland by childhood friends Jukka (vocals) and Johannes (guitar). They soon found Joachim (drums) and Kaj (bass), cousins to each other, to complete the band.
The first release, Julia ep, was a theme record focused around the life and death of Julia, a character created by Jukka and Johannes on their crazy road trip to Paris in the winter of 2001. It actually gained many good reviews, most of them praising the young band’s promising songwriting and Jukka’s exceptional voice. It also got the band’s name spread around the music industry.
In 2003 big things started to happen for Deep Insight. The band recorded their debut album Ivory Tower at Soundtrack Studios in Helsinki, Finland, and Kaj was replaced by Miska on bass. Miska instantly gave a whole new meaning to sayings “ripping the bass” and “man uses his instrument like he uses his women”. The album came out in May, and the band started their first ever European tour.
Timing was perfect; Deep Insight’s mix of American rock and emo with Scandinavian influences was received with great enthousiasm amongst the audience and critics. It was only back home in Finland where the response was more reserved. Deep Insight soon returned to Germany, The Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and Latvia for summer festivals, and in October, it was time for the third foreign tour, a 5-week European adventure.
The second album "Red Lights, White Lines" was recorded and mixed in June-July 2004 with producers Jens Bogren (Katatonia, Lambretta) and Jonas Olsson (Callisto), who also supervised the pre-production before letting the band enter one of Sweden’s finest studios, Fascination Street (ex-Kuling) in Örebro. Finally, the album was mastered by Thomas Eberger (Bo Kaspers Orkester, Nine, Raised Fist) at Cutting Room in Stockholm, Sweden. And the sound and songs turned out great. Some critics gave it a rating 10/10 some gave it a 3/5.
Joachim decided to move to pastures new after the recording sessions and in came Ville. The third album "One Minute Too Late" came out in 2006 and is stylistically more diverse, including e.g. Mexican influences (on Five Minute Murder). After a while Miska also decided to leave the band, and along came Jore to fill his place.
After a little break in July 2008 the band was back to the studio recording new album. And this time they spent more time on making it instead of the usual one month locked inside. The release of the album is due to next spring. However, first single Rock With My Band will hit the stores in Finland on the 18th of February and digitally released on the 2nd of February in iTunes.
Deep Insight is back on the road and the Eropean tour starts in the end of April 2009.

Let Me Go!
Deep Insight Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I've got these fears that are growing too strong in me
They breed from tears and cover with irony
Little piece by piece I'm building my breakaway
One break at a time I tear this prison down
I've got what they want
I've got what they need
I'm holding on and on
Breakdown
The secret is over
I see you're trying to break me down
I came down, it's time to let go now
Fear is just a big fat lie
You've got me going good
And I don't think you should
Breakdown
You've got me going good
Let me go (8x)
I've been beaten down, been riding in a filthy cage
Though I've been baptized with fire
The way is too much to take
I've got what they want
I'm holding on and on
I've got what they need
I'm holding on and on
Breakdown
The secret is over
I see you're trying to break me down
I came down, it's time to let go now
Fear is just a big fat lie
You've got me going good
And I don't think you should
Breakdown
You've got me going good
I've got what they want
I've got what they need
I've got what they want
'Cause I'm holding on and on
Breakdown
The secret is over
I see you're trying to break me down
I came down, it's time to let go now
Fear is just a big fat lie
You've got me going good
And I don't think you should
Breakdown
You've got me going good
In "Let Me Go," Deep Insight explores the concept of fear and its impact on the human psyche. The opening lines convey the sense that fear is growing within the singer, and that it stems from an abundance of tears and is shrouded in irony. The fear seems to manifest itself like a prison, and the singer is gradually dismantling it, brick by brick. This is a process that requires a breakaway, one break at a time, and the desire for freedom is palpable.
The chorus repeats the phrase, "I've got what they want / I'm holding on and on / I've got what they need / I'm holding on and on," and this could be interpreted in a few different ways. Perhaps the "they" refers to the fears that are holding the singer back, and the singer feels like they possess these fears, almost as if they are a part of them. Alternatively, the "they" could be something external, such as people or social pressures, and the singer is trying to resist and hold on to their own identity.
The breakdown serves as a turning point in the song, where the singer recognizes that the secret is over, and that someone is trying to break them down. The final lines reiterate that fear is nothing but a lie, and that the singer is capable of breaking free from it once and for all. Overall, "Let Me Go" is a powerful anthem about overcoming fear and breaking free from entrapment, both external and internal.
