Deep Insight was formed in early 2002 in Kokkola, Finland by childhood friends Jukka (vocals) and Johannes (guitar). They soon found Joachim (drums) and Kaj (bass), cousins to each other, to complete the band.
The first release, Julia ep, was a theme record focused around the life and death of Julia, a character created by Jukka and Johannes on their crazy road trip to Paris in the winter of 2001. It actually gained many good reviews, most of them praising the young band’s promising songwriting and Jukka’s exceptional voice. It also got the band’s name spread around the music industry.
In 2003 big things started to happen for Deep Insight. The band recorded their debut album Ivory Tower at Soundtrack Studios in Helsinki, Finland, and Kaj was replaced by Miska on bass. Miska instantly gave a whole new meaning to sayings “ripping the bass” and “man uses his instrument like he uses his women”. The album came out in May, and the band started their first ever European tour.
Timing was perfect; Deep Insight’s mix of American rock and emo with Scandinavian influences was received with great enthousiasm amongst the audience and critics. It was only back home in Finland where the response was more reserved. Deep Insight soon returned to Germany, The Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and Latvia for summer festivals, and in October, it was time for the third foreign tour, a 5-week European adventure.
The second album "Red Lights, White Lines" was recorded and mixed in June-July 2004 with producers Jens Bogren (Katatonia, Lambretta) and Jonas Olsson (Callisto), who also supervised the pre-production before letting the band enter one of Sweden’s finest studios, Fascination Street (ex-Kuling) in Örebro. Finally, the album was mastered by Thomas Eberger (Bo Kaspers Orkester, Nine, Raised Fist) at Cutting Room in Stockholm, Sweden. And the sound and songs turned out great. Some critics gave it a rating 10/10 some gave it a 3/5.
Joachim decided to move to pastures new after the recording sessions and in came Ville. The third album "One Minute Too Late" came out in 2006 and is stylistically more diverse, including e.g. Mexican influences (on Five Minute Murder). After a while Miska also decided to leave the band, and along came Jore to fill his place.
After a little break in July 2008 the band was back to the studio recording new album. And this time they spent more time on making it instead of the usual one month locked inside. The release of the album is due to next spring. However, first single Rock With My Band will hit the stores in Finland on the 18th of February and digitally released on the 2nd of February in iTunes.
Deep Insight is back on the road and the Eropean tour starts in the end of April 2009.

Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is Baby
Deep Insight Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Now leave me alone!
Broke the vow. Gun powden. I can't take it, i wouldn't take it
I could never let you go
Put your money where your mouth is baby
A lot of talk with no result
You ain't nothing but a dremen and you're gonna die done
You ain't nothing but a dremen and you're gonna die done
Cannot lage to vault my heart
Touched by a bullet
You've gone too for
Now leave me alone!
Gallows call you wouldn't play your poht
You can't take it
You won't take it
You could never let me go
You're gonna die, baby
you're gonna die alone
I'm nothing but a wreck of me delusional and loosing sleep
I'm nothing but a wreck of me stuck without a melody
The lyrics of Deep Insight's song Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is Baby depicts a toxic relationship where one partner is constantly talking big but failing to live up to their words while the other partner is left wounded and hurt. The opening lines "Ricochet from my heart. You missed it by an inch but it left a scar" speaks to the emotional pain caused by the partner's lies and broken promises. The lyricist is clearly hurt and angry in lines like "Broke the vow. Gunpowder. I can't take it, I wouldn't take it".
In the chorus, the mood is confrontational as the vocalist demands that the partner put their money where their mouth is, and prove their worth. The lyrics, "You ain't nothing but a dreamer, and you're gonna die done." are a warning to the partner that their empty dreams and promises are worthless and they will ultimately reach a dead end. The lyricist continues to lash out with "Under the microscope it's a little harder to breathe", conveying the feeling of being trapped and suffocated in the relationship. The song's main message is that actions speak louder than words and that the partner needs to back up their talk to earn the trust and respect of the other.
Overall, the song is an intense depiction of a relationship that is heading towards self-destruction. The lyrics express the frustration, anger, and hurt of the lyricist, who is tired of empty promises and is ready to move on from the toxic relationship. This song is a great example of how music can be used as a medium for people to express their emotions and connect with their audience.
