Struggle
Desdemonia Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

"Hey, come to me to fullfill your dreams
Just trust and see 'cause my word is true"

Disgust is what I feel
Before those you want to kneel
Sucking every trust
To extend their lust
Rage undoes the knot
I carry in my throat
Feeding their belief

"In the far I see two silhouettes standing
There, watching me
They reach out their hands and with glancing eyes

They speak to me..."
In the far I see

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of Desdemonia's "Struggle" are powerful and impactful, speaking to the frustration of having to deal with people who manipulate and deceive others in order to fulfill their own selfish desires. The verse begins with an invitation to trust, but the singer is quick to express their disgust at those who would take advantage of that trust and use it to satisfy their own cravings. The singer seems to be struggling with the betrayal of someone they had put their faith in, and the anger and frustration that comes along with that.

The second verse expands on this theme, describing the rage that has built up inside of the singer as a result of this broken trust. They feel as though they are carrying a knot in their throat, a physical manifestation of the anger and betrayal they are feeling. The final lines of the verse suggest that those who are manipulating others are doing so with the intention of feeding their own belief system, rather than genuinely caring for the people they are taking advantage of.

The chorus of the song paints a vivid picture of the singer being watched by two silhouettes in the distance. The use of the word "far" implies that these figures are physically distant, but also suggests that they may represent a spiritual or emotional distance as well. The glancing eyes of the silhouettes seem to indicate that they are judging the singer in some way, and the fact that they reach out their hands suggests that they may be offering some sort of help or guidance.

Overall, "Struggle" is a song that speaks to the difficulty of maintaining trust in a world where there are so many people who are willing to take advantage of it. The anger and frustration that the singer feels is palpable, and the chorus adds a mystical, almost surreal element to the song that suggests that there may be a spiritual dimension to the struggles being faced.
