Her playing attracted the attention of bass player Ray Brown, who brought her into touch with influential teachers and producers. At the age of seventeen, she won a scholarship from the Vancouver Jazz Festival to study at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. After three terms she moved to Los Angeles to study with Jimmy Rowles, with whom she also began to sing. In 1990, Krall relocated to New York. She is married to British musician Elvis Costello.

Diana Krall Lyrics

I'm concealing, I don't know why
It's just a mental, sentimental alibi
But I adore you
So strong for you
Why go on stalling
I am falling
Why be shy?
Let's fall in love
Why shouldn't we fall in love?
Our hearts are made of it
Let's take a chance
Why be afraid of it?
Let's close our eyes and make our own paradise
Little we know of it, still we can try
To make a go of it
We might have an end for each other
To be or not to be
Let our hearts discover
Let's fall in love
Why shouldn't we fall in love?
Now is the time for it, while we are young
Let's fall in love
We might have an end for each other
To be or not to be
Let our hearts discover
Let's fall in love
Why shouldn't we fall in love?
Now is the time for it, while we are young
Let's fall in love
Let's fall in love
Let's fall in love
Let's fall in love
In "Let's Fall In Love," Diana Krall expresses her feelings of deep love for someone she is initially hesitant to express them to. She suggests that her hesitance may be just a mental or sentimental alibi, indicating that she might be afraid of rejection or committing herself too fully to the relationship. However, her love for this person is so strong that she cannot resist the urge to take the risk and fall in love.
Krall encourages her lover to abandon their doubts and fears, and follow their hearts in taking a chance on their love. She suggests that it is time to make their own paradise, and even though they may not fully understand what that paradise may be, they should try to create it together. She also points out that they may be meant to be together but cannot know for sure until they take the leap and let their hearts discover the true nature of their desires.
Overall, the song celebrates the joy and beauty of falling in love, the power of the heart to guide us towards our destiny, and the bravery required to take the risks necessary to create a fulfilling relationship.

DIANA KRALL – Let's Face The Music And Dance
A propos what's playing right this minute on Siriusly Sinatra – my favorite rendition by Diana Krall of the most philosophical lyric ever included in the Great American Songbook – Dietz & Schwartz's LET'S FACE THE MUSIC AND DANCE.
Google to be reminded it's from my favorite early 'orchestral' album of hers (see previous page 39). The first offering this day at YouTube is this one – an old (2005) music video I've never seen! Cinematography – very high quality, alas uncredited. This official version has 1,007,022 “views”.
A warm weather jazz samba, on a day here in the coldest major city in the world (minus 35 windchill and the start of another blizzard) and …. well, I needed this!. Thanks to channel 70's mind-reader programmer-extraordinaire 'Jersey Lou' Simon for brightening my day, warming my outlook -- again!
Thanks to Diana Krall for sharing. Celebrated elsewhere [search] " Great Melody, Great Lyric, Great Rendition, Songwriting Workshop, Harmony Central "

LET'S FACE THE MUSIC AND DANCE
There may be trouble ahead
But while there's music and moonlight and love and romance
Let's face the music and dance
Before the fiddlers have fled
Before they ask us to pay the bill and while we still have the chance
Let's face the music and dance
Soon we'll be without the moon, humming a different tune and then
There may be teardrops to shed
So while there's moonlight and music and love and romance
Let's face the music and dance

Claim to fame... When Spanish Bay Inn ( Pebble Beach ) first opened and during the Jazz Festival, Ms Krall performed there. The cost was just having to order dinner. There were only 8 of us that turned up. She had the waiters move all our tables and seats around her and she played all requests ....she made what could have been a " bust' into a most memorable evening....

The first time I heard this song was upon entering a coffee shop late at night. It was rainy and the sky was black outside, but the interior had warm amber lighting while the weather was taking its course. Immaculate vibes.

Very authentic interpretation. As much i know, the very first version of this song was composed by Mr. Berlin around 1915…as a slow song, like this interpretation. Unbeliveable😮 our grandparents could dance to this song 💃🕺

I first heard this at an airport. Early morning, still dark outside... barely anyone sitting by the gate. This song is giving Sex and the City lol. It's giving Upper West Side New York on a beautiful evening under the stars!

When I first heard Diana it was on a Sunday afternoon. Just doing some channel surfing and landed on the PBS Channel and saw this young lady performing and little did I know who she was at the time. The show took a commercial break and the announcer said, we'll return with Diana Krall Live @ Studio 54 in NYC. I was so captivated by her music, I watched the entire concert and once it was over, I remember seeing her CD, "When I Look Into Your Eyes" at K-Mart music department and noticed there was only one left and yes you best believe I bought it and took it home and couldn't wait to hear the rest of the CD & I was not disappointed. She's AMAZING!!!
