Die Happy Lyrics

And excellent way to build your cage
Afternoon rolls around too soon
So you drink some more just to get you through
When you're building your cage
Work is over as you finish your lock
It's a crying shame, and who's to blame
Your brothers and sisters
Or dad and mom for bringing you up wrong
I can't believe you can't see the signs
What is going on inside your mind
You're looking down and not ahead
The way you're going you'll soon be dead
Can't you see just how far you've gone
And how many people you've dragged along
When you're building your cage
Building your cage
Only so much more to say
Before you go and throw it all away
When you're building your cage
Building your cage
I hope you heard what I said
I don't want to see you winding up dead
It's a crying shame, and who's to blame
Your brothers and sisters
Or dad and mom for bringing you up wrong
I can't believe you can't see the signs
What is going on inside your mind
You've thrown it all away
The lyrics to Die Happy's song Cage depict the destructive nature of alcohol addiction and the trap it creates, keeping individuals stuck in a self-made "cage." The song starts by describing how alcohol becomes the foundation for their day, drinking a pint just to start it. It then shows the inevitability of needing more and finishing off their "lock" as they close the bar at 2 o'clock. The chorus repeatedly emphasizes the theme of "building your cage" and how it's only a matter of time before they end up "dead."
The lyrics also touch on the larger issue of addiction and who or what is to blame for it. The line "Your brothers and sisters, Or dad and mom for bringing you up wrong" suggests that it's a combination of societal and personal factors that contribute to an individual's struggle with addiction.
As the song progresses, it becomes more urgent and pleading, begging the listener to recognize the signs and not throw their life away. The final lines, "I hope you heard what I said, I don't want to see you winding up dead," serve as a desperate plea to take action and seek help.
Overall, the lyrics to Cage are a powerful depiction of the destructive nature of alcohol addiction and the need for support to break out of the self-made cage.
