Renaissance
Die Happy Lyrics

Couldn't wash it from our minds
A state of mind we had once before
A cycle spinning 'round
Tells me who we are now
Just the same as once before
It goes on and on...
Tells me who we are now
Just the same as once before
It goes on and on...
The lyrics of "Renaissance" by Die Happy talk about how history repeats itself and how human behavior is cyclic in nature. The first verse talks about how time cannot erase certain states of mind or behaviors that we had in the past. The line "A state of mind we had once before" suggests that the current behavior or mindset is not new but rather, an old pattern. The repetition of the line "Just the same as once before" emphasizes this idea of history repeating itself. The chorus talks about a cycle that is spinning around, which serves as a metaphor for the repetitive nature of human behavior. The line "Tells me who we are now" suggests that our behavior in the present is a reflection of our past behavior, and that we are trapped in this cycle that keeps repeating itself. The final line "It goes on and on..." suggests that this cycle is never-ending, and that we will continue to repeat this behavior unless we break the cycle.
Overall, "Renaissance" is a commentary on how human behavior is cyclic and how history repeats itself. It suggests that we are trapped in a cycle that we cannot escape and that we will continue to repeat the same patterns of behavior over and over again. The song encourages listeners to break this cycle and create a new future for ourselves.
