1) Diorama is a darkwave band founded in 1996 in Reutlingen, Germany by Torben Wendt. His music was soon recognized by Adrian Hates of Diary of Dreams, so with his support and the support of Rainer Assmann (Daf/ Fad Gadget), a debut-album “Pale” was released in 1999. It was received very well both by the critics and the audience.
In 2000 Torben’s friend Felix Marc joined Diorama as a keyboard player, co-producer and backing vocalist. The second album “Her Liquid Arms” was released in April 2001. Despite its stronger rhythms and more forceful electronic sounds, the music preserved its distinctive atmosphere, established with the first album. The song “Advance” became one of the leading club hits and the band was becoming increasingly popular. The second album was followed by club-oriented single “Device” (December 2001).
Bassist Bernard Le Sigue joined the band the following year, and together with Torben and Felix saw the release of the third album, named “The Art of Creating Confusing Spirits”, the album was released in October 2002. During November and December of the same year, Diorama supported Diary of Dreams on tour.
After a long break and another addition to the band’s line-up (guitar player Sash Fiddler joining in 2003), the long-awaited fourth album "Amaroid" was released in April 2005. For the promotion of the new album, the band joined VNV Nation, on their “Formation” tour. In October 2005, Diorama released two more albums: A re-release of their first album “Pale”, with three new songs (“Don’t Be There”, “You and Ice” and “Crop of Illusions”); and “Re-Pale” – a collection of new versions of earlier songs, remixes and some previously unreleased songs. At the same time, the band went on their first headline tour throughout Germany.
At the end of 2006, Bernard Le Sigue left the band. On the 23rd of February 2007, a new single was released: “Synthesize Me”, a prelude for the next album, which was released 4 weeks later. “A Different Life” can be characterized as a criticism of the society ruled by artificial, deviant system of values. With his lyrics, Torben portrayed the revolt of the individual against the imposed principles and general degradation of true values and virtues.
"Cubed" is their seventh studio album, released on 19th March 2010. The figurative picture of a cube is the guiding theme of the album - a confined area serving as a living space be it as a stage, as a prison or as a shelter. This concept consequently features throughout the band's artwork and stage setting.

Acid Trip
Diorama Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
That's your own fault
You grant us space
That's your own fault
What can you say that we don't know already?
You watch us breed
That's your own fault
With great hooray
What can you give that we don't have already?
Are you stuck on the acid trip?
Are you stuck on the acid trip baby?
Are you stuck on the acid trip?
Don't treat us like we're not wanted
It's wrong to say we're not wanted
It's us who keep your weakened body going
No hidden spot where we're not wanted
No innocence we're not wanted to kill
You can't wake up cause you're awake already
Are you stuck on the acid trip?
Are you stuck on the acid trip baby?
Are you stuck on the acid trip?
You're set at easy with all your friendship
In your remote retirement off shore
Welcome home welcome home welcome home
We envy you in your uniqueness
We envy you cause you're not thinking anymore
Welcome home welcome home welcome home
What can you contribute? What can you contribute?
What can you contribute? What can you contribute?
What can you still afford? What can you still hope for?
These are your golden days well we don't see you gleam
Your mind is a jewel a jewel a forgery
You and your love
You and your terrible niceness
Are you stuck on the acid trip?
Are you stuck on the acid trip baby?
Are you stuck on the acid trip?
The lyrics of "Acid Trip" by Diorama present a critical view of modern society, as seen from the perspective of someone who is "stuck on the acid trip". The song describes a world that is both welcoming and hostile, where people are both wanted and not wanted, where great triumph and failure are celebrated equally. The opening lines suggest that we are responsible for our own predicament, that we have allowed ourselves to become trapped in a cycle of consumption and production that has left us numb and disconnected from our inner selves. The stanza also indicates that we offered "space" to share, but the visitors might not know any better.
The chorus is haunting, a series of questions, "Are you stuck on the acid trip?" The repetition emphasizes the sensation of being "stuck" and unable to move past the distortions caused by the acid trip. The singer seems to be directing this question to the listener, suggesting that they too may be trapped in this cycle of consumption and production, unable to see the world around them for what it truly is.
The second verse is especially jarring, in that it describes a world where people are not valued. The lyrics note that "It's us who keep your weakened body going," emphasizing the idea that people are reduced to mere resources, with no inherent worth of their own. The lines "No innocence we're not wanted to kill," highlight the idea that there are no positive or negative value judgments, but merely utility.
Overall, "Acid Trip" provides an insightful commentary on the impact of modern society on our psyche. The song suggests that we may have become trapped in a cycle of consumption and production that has left us disconnected from our inner selves. The lyrics are a warning of the dangers of losing touch with ourselves and becoming disconnected from the world around us.
