S… Read Full Bio ↴There appears to be approximately 8-9 different bands called DIVE:
Started in 1990, Dive is the solo project of Belgian EBM pioneer and former Klinik and Absolute Body Control frontman Dirk Ivens. Continuing the minimal, menacing electronics of early Klinik releases, but with a heavier, more saturated edge, Dive's distinct sound has been a highly influential presence in the EBM and electro-industrial scene. Sister project Sonar is an equally respected rhythmic noise project in the vein of Esplendor GeomΓ©trico, while the pre-Klinik electropunk project Absolute Body Control was recently reformed with long-time friend and brother-in-law Eric Van Wonterghem of Insekt and Monolith.

DIVE are no strangers to the music scene of South New Jersey and Philadelphia, PA (USA). They are a straightforward band of aggressive and melodic rock that compares to the sounds of Three Days Grace, Hoobastank and Fuel. DIVE formed back in 2004, taking time to create and focus their sound while playing local club and bar gigs around their hometowns. In 2007, βThe Truth About Usβ was self-released and eventually gained widespread attention for this dynamic band.
Diveβs most recent success occurred in late 2009. This included signing with Phase One Communications/Mad Rock Music and recording their latest album, βPicture Perfectβ, with famed producer, Jim Wirt (Incubus, No Doubt, Live, Jackβs Mannequin). The band spent the holidays at the legendary 4th Street Recording Studios in Santa Monica, CA, where the hum of the Beach Boysβ melodies still linger in the place that gave birth to their sound decades earlier. The album is being released through Sony RED on 5/11/2010.
A band driven by purpose and filled with passion, βPicture Perfect,β hits you fast and hard with a fury of tight rhythms and distorted guitars from beginning to end. Having a great record filled with addicting hooks and head banging beats is just not enough for these young rockers. βItβs all about having the live show to back it upβ Jonny Sitar (lead vocals) says.
DIVE consistently delivers a tight and energetic live show, going all out and leaving the audience screaming for more. Sitar, commands the stage as well as the crowd with his uncanny vocal performance while connecting with the audience through stories of love and loss. Evan Canova and Jeff Moczydlowski dual between rhythm and lead while delivering both color and drive simultaneously backed by a rhythm section with more than enough backbone between bass player, Teddy Agelis, and drummer Zhach Kelsch.
Dive has already built a devoted fan base thanks to the support of 93.3 WMMR (Philadelphia), the first radio station to feature Dive in full-rotation, and will be soon be launching their new single, βLast Call Romanceβ in the Tri-state area with the help of Land Shark Promotion Studio. 2010 presents a promising outlook of success and longevity for DIVE as they continue their pursuits of notoriety and merit.

The Truth About Us
Dive Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Was this even worth your time?
Stop complaining and open up show your true side
Sweet and innocent
Just a sugar coated shell
I will break these chains
And walk away from you again
When everybody's gone
I won't be the one to
Take away this emptiness that stings and burns you
You thought you were my guilty pleasure
But you were just a desperate measure
Don't need you anymore
Pretty little girl
I will tear you up inside
Drive you crazy then push you right out of my life
Here's your space to breathe
Is this what you waited for?
Take another swing cause you can't hurt me anymore
When everybody's gone
I won't be the one to
Take away this emptiness that stings and burns you
You thought you were my guilty pleasure
But you were just a desperate measure
Don't need you anymore
Looking forward to life without you
How could you believe I loved you
Faking this was all I had to give
Take away this emptiness that stings and burns you
You thought you were my guilty pleasure
But you were just a desperate measure
Don't need you anymore
Take away this emptiness that stings and burns you
You thought you were my guilty pleasure
But you were just a desperate measure
Don't need you anymore
The lyrics of Dive's song The Truth About Us depict a relationship that has gone sour, and the resolve of the singer to break free from the toxicity. The song opens with the singer questioning their own worth in the eyes of their partner, asking if they were ever anything to them and if the relationship was worth their time. There is a tone of resentment, as the singer urges their partner to stop complaining and reveal their true side. The next verse is more hostile, as the singer refers to their partner as a "sweet and innocent" facade that they will tear up inside and drive crazy, before pushing them out of their life. The chorus is an assertion of the singer's independence, as they refuse to be the one to ease their partner's emptiness anymore. They make it clear that their partner was never a "guilty pleasure"; rather, they were just a "desperate measure" that the singer does not need anymore.
The final verse is a declaration of the singer's newfound freedom from the relationship. They are looking forward to a life without their partner, and express disbelief at how their partner could have ever believed that they loved them, when everything was just a facade. The song ends with a repetition of the chorus, driving home the singer's resolve to move on.
Overall, The Truth About Us is a poignant portrayal of a relationship that has gone sour, and the empowerment that comes with breaking free from toxicity.
