Gone
Dive Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Remember when you used to cry
Then I would watch you fall asleep
And all the times we used to fight
But you were everything to me

Now do you ever say my name?
And do you every think of me?
Will this ever be the same?
Will it ever be the same?

And you're gone, will I ever find you?
Gone, does he even love you?
Gone, will he ever know you like I did?
And you're gone, will I ever see you?
Gone, when I breathe I breathe you
Gone, will he ever know you like I did?

Do you know how I used to try
To make you see how much I cared
And now I'm left with just the lie
Was there no trust or were you scared?

Now can you smile and say his name?
Or do you cry and think of me?
Will this ever be the same?
Will it ever be the same?

And you're gone, will I ever find you?

Gone, does he even love you?
Gone, will he ever know you like I did?
And you're gone, will I ever see you?
Gone, when I breathe I breathe you
Gone, will he ever know you like I did?

Was there nothing left for you to take from me?

Gone, will I ever find you?
Gone, does he even love you?
Gone, will he ever know you like I did?
And you're gone, will I ever see you?
Gone, when I breathe I breathe you
Gone, will he ever know you like I did?

And you're gone, will I ever find you?
Gone, does he even love you?
Gone, will he ever know you like I did?
And you're gone, will I ever see you?
(was there nothing left)
Gone, when I breathe I breathe you
(for you to take)

Gone, will he ever know you like I did?
(was there nothing, for you to take?)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Dive's song "Gone" seem to be about a person who is trying to cope with the fact that their past lover is no longer with them. The song starts with reminiscing about the past, when the person would watch their lover fall asleep while they cry. Despite the fights, the lover was everything to the person, and they wonder if their lover ever thinks of them the way they do.

As the song progresses, the person questions if their lover is happy with their new partner. They wonder if the new lover loves them the way they did and if they know them as well. The chorus repeats the question of whether the person will ever find their lover, see them again, and if they will ever know them like they did. The bridge of the song seems to express the pain and betrayal that the person felt when their lover left, wondering if there was anything left for the lover to take from them.

Overall, the song explores the feeling of longing and heartbreak after a relationship ends. The person seems to be struggling with moving on and questioning if their lover will ever truly leave their thoughts. The lyrics are emotional and relatable to anyone who has experienced a difficult breakup.

When I was stationed in Hawai’i, I got certified as an open water diver. I remember beautiful dives like Three Tables, a shipwreck about 5 miles off the coast and the Haleiwa trench. For the trench, you walk about 1/4 mile out in waist deep water then it just drops to about 120 feet.

Even though my qualification was only open water, I’d spend every weekend in the water. There were 5 or 6 other guys in my unit who were also certified so you could at least find 1-2 guys willing to go diving on the weekends. Plus, equipment and tank rental from MWR was cheap.

This is all preface to talk about the time I saw panic in just a small, one chamber cave because of a shadow. In Hawai’i they have native lobsters and you can hunt them during certain periods. When I was there it was only at night when in season and only by hand - they don’t have giant claws like Maine lobsters.

Anyway, we descended into a cave with a large group of tourist divers. The cave entrance was about 10 feet across.

We would go in looking for lobsters and when we saw them grab them up and check their size against these pre-made rulers. If they were legal, into the bag they go. If not, we released them.

In the frenzy of our grabbing at lobsters and the dancing of our flashlights a giant shape cast a shadow crossing in front of one of the beams. A tourist panicked and thought it was a shark. It was just a rather large sea turtle that went into the cave to rest a bit and got annoyed so swam out of the cave. I was near the entrance and the panicked woman was kind of crowd surfing everyone between her and the entrance to get out. She knocked off my goggles, ripped my mouthpiece out and kneed me in the face while kicking to get out.

I can’t say I was panicked or thought I’d drown. I knew we had plenty of air, no restrictions and I’d trained enough to gather myself and replace my breather then find my goggles on the cave floor. But, when we surfaced the woman apologized thinking the shadow was a shark and she panicked.

I can easily see how when the stakes are significantly raise and the dive more technical and treacherous, panic can set in quickly.

Hey everyone! I hope you have a great Sunday, and thanks to everyone who sent in a story suggestion or feedback in the recent post!

Thanks for reading these personally! So many AI channels are popping up these days and they're really annoying. Your work is much better. Could you do some stories about being lost/chased in the woods at some point? Those always get me.

@ScaryInteresting

I've got some lost in the woods stories coming soon!@@FHBStudio

Hey Shawn, I don't know if you'll see this here but I do have a recommendation for a story. Here's a quick synopsis from Wikipedia.

Juliane Margaret Beate Koepcke (born 10 October 1954), also known by her married name Juliane Diller, is a German-Peruvian mammalogist who specialises in bats. The daughter of German zoologists Maria and Hans-Wilhelm Koepcke, she became famous at the age of 17 as the sole survivor of the 1971 LANSA Flight 508 plane crash; after falling 3,000 m (10,000 ft) while strapped to her seat and suffering numerous injuries, she survived 11 days alone in the Peruvian Amazon rainforest until local fishermen she came across were able to take her by canoe to a more populated area.

If that doesn't have you foaming at the mouth then you're not the man I thought you were. ;]

Subscribers' ghost stories? My boss and I saw the same ghost at the same time. Otherwise I could have probably talked myself out of it being real.
FYI- you are my favorite "voice"...I follow a ton of channels but I will choose your videos for the sound of your voice + solid, captivating story, every time. Your channel has so many copycats now!

The best thing about caving, scuba diving, and cave diving, is that you don't have to do any of them.

@serenas5411

Exactly 😂😂😂😂

@moniqueabundance

💯

@8kayydub8

Caving is pretty dope as long as you're not squeezing through cracks. I do not fuck with that
