The programme depicts the adventures of a Time Lord called the Doctor, exploring the universe in a time-travelling space ship called the TARDIS. The TARDIS exterior appears as a blue British police box, which was a common sight in Britain in 1963 when the series first aired.

There have been many composers throughout the show's run. Notable composers are: Murray Gold (2005-2017), Segun Akinola (2017-2022), Dudley Simpson (various stories from 1964- 1980), and Peter Howell (1980-1985), among others.

I feel like this is why The Doctor was devastated enough at the loss of Amy to stop travelling and withdraw into a hermit. Of all the companions post-Time War, Amy was the one who understood his hearts the most.

The Doctor needs companion. They lack that empathy, that special type of kindness that only humans can see. We see this time and time again and one of his greatest regret is when he was fighting alone in the Time War. But Clara showed up, and restored that empathy

No it's not empathy, or special kindness. The Doctor is the master in that not humans. He needs a companion because it makes him tolerable by others like walking around with a baby or a pet (11th to Craig, "Closing Time"), plus most importantly, he needs someone to stop him because he stops pulling his punches and would definitely end up killing himself (Donna/10th "Turn Left")

@AlphaMineron it’s kinda both, he’s kind but he sees everything differently from them, humans are more emotional in general, which is why we’re capable of so much evil, the doctor is able to be good because he’s less emotional in that regard, but having a companion allows him to see that extra level of empathy that he doesn’t normally have, but also yeah they keep him grounded and stop him from going off the rails

Those floor to ceiling window scene where they marvel at the universe reminds me of the ending scene in The End of the World where 9 took Rose to see the end of Earth(?), also on their second adventure. Quite a nice homage to RTD.

this was the grandest entrance possible for Matt Smith and Karen Gillan. this season was one of my favorites, by far, and this episode helped a lot.

doctor whi has always stressed that you don't need to lose your humanity to save humanity. I think back to christopher Ecclestons exit, on the TV station, he would not kill any humans to save the rest of humanity. we need to remember that as we battle our problems here on earth, battling global warming, and energy crisis. killing people, aborting babies, killing animals, are not the answer. we can't work the problems as they come and we can keep our humanity

What concerned me about this particular episode is that I highly doubt that all the other countries in the world have just abandoned Britain like that

For context, Earth was threatened by solar flares. Humanity itself was at risk. I don't think other countries would have stayed behind to help when Earth was close to being destroyed and they possibly only had minutes to spare

There is also option that they were building ship like everyone else, but some unexpected complication happen, so other countries thought, that they were leaving too, just later, but that complication was too big to fix fast enough (motor probably) and when star whale arrived, they simply combined it with existing parts of ship.

Then they killed him for calling them out and saying that they were hypocrites. Yet he sat down with the lowly, the poor and traitors of the Jewishpeople/tax collectors and forgave the prostitute and spared the life of an adulterer. He just told them after to go and not sin anymore....he was actually a good man. You would've like him.
