Day's film career began during the latter part of the Classical Hollywood Film era with the 1948 film Romance on the High Seas, and its success sparked her twenty-year career as a motion picture actress. She starred in a series of successful films, including musicals, comedies, and dramas. She played the title role in Calamity Jane (1953), and starred in Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) with James Stewart. Her most successful films were the bedroom comedies she made co-starring Rock Hudson and James Garner, such as Pillow Talk (1959) and Move Over, Darling (1963), respectively. She also co-starred in films with such leading men as Clark Gable, Cary Grant, David Niven, and Rod Taylor. After her final film in 1968, she went on to star in the CBS sitcom The Doris Day Show (1968–1973).
Day was usually one of the top ten singers between 1951 and 1966. As an actress, she became the biggest female film star in the early 1960s, and ranked sixth among the box office performers by 2012. In 2011, she released her 29th studio album, My Heart, which became a UK Top 10 album featuring new material. Among her awards, Day has received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and a Legend Award from the Society of Singers. In 1960, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, and in 1989 was given the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in motion pictures. In 2004, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush followed in 2011 by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's Career Achievement Award. She was one of the last surviving stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Her death was announced by her charity, the Doris Day Animal Foundation, on Monday 13th May 2019.

Doris Day Lyrics

Your eyes said dance, I wanted to
When we danced I 'eard you mispronounce J'ai vous adore
And after our first kiss you mispronounced encore
It was morning in Paree when you said goodbye to me
I was not sad because I knew
We would surely meet again, I know where, when
We would surely meet again, I know where, when
Tonight I'll be waiting zere for you at ze Café Rendezvous
The lyrics to Doris Day's song "At The Café Rendezvous" depict a romantic encounter between two people in Paris. From the very start of the scene, both characters were lonely and seeking to make a connection with someone. The singer mentions that upon laying eyes on each other, they both felt a strong connection that drove them to dance together. During the dance, the singer found their partner to be mispronouncing French phrases like "J'ai vous adore" and "encore," which adds to the overall atmosphere of the song.
As the night comes to a close, the characters part ways, but the singer notes that they are not sad because they know they will see each other again. In fact, the singer even knows where and when they will meet again: at the Café Rendezvous. The song ends with the singer promising to wait for their partner at the café, solidifying the sense of romance and connection between the two characters.
Overall, the lyrics of "At The Café Rendezvous" are a beautiful tribute to the power of romantic connections, particularly when set in a picturesque location like Paris.

World Cup 1998 is my favorite by far. It had so many memorable moments:
- Ronaldo owning everyone until the final
- The epic showdown between Spain and Nigeria
- Dennis Bergkamp! Dennis Bergkamp! Dennis Bergkamp!
- 18 year old Michael Owen's solo goal against Argentina
- Simeone tricking David Beckham into a red card
- Adrien Ilie's epic goal for Romania
- Njanka's epic goal for Cameroon
- Blanco's epic goal for Mexico
- Zinedine Zidane establishing himself as the best player in the world
- Roberto Baggio's comeback, hitting a penalty after missing in '94
- Thuram scoring not once but twice in the semifinal
- Edgar Davids's last minute goal against Yugoslavia
- Croatia reaching third place on their first appearance at the World Cup
- So many colorful personalities (Valderrama, Chilavert, Barthez, Taribo West, Blanco, etc.)

And Thuram, who is the most capped player for France (until Lloris beats this record), only scored... two goals in his whole career for the national team! These two goals.
