Day's film career began during the latter part of the Classical Hollywood Film era with the 1948 film Romance on the High Seas, and its success sparked her twenty-year career as a motion picture actress. She starred in a series of successful films, including musicals, comedies, and dramas. She played the title role in Calamity Jane (1953), and starred in Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) with James Stewart. Her most successful films were the bedroom comedies she made co-starring Rock Hudson and James Garner, such as Pillow Talk (1959) and Move Over, Darling (1963), respectively. She also co-starred in films with such leading men as Clark Gable, Cary Grant, David Niven, and Rod Taylor. After her final film in 1968, she went on to star in the CBS sitcom The Doris Day Show (1968โ1973).
Day was usually one of the top ten singers between 1951 and 1966. As an actress, she became the biggest female film star in the early 1960s, and ranked sixth among the box office performers by 2012. In 2011, she released her 29th studio album, My Heart, which became a UK Top 10 album featuring new material. Among her awards, Day has received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and a Legend Award from the Society of Singers. In 1960, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, and in 1989 was given the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in motion pictures. In 2004, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush followed in 2011 by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's Career Achievement Award. She was one of the last surviving stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Her death was announced by her charity, the Doris Day Animal Foundation, on Monday 13th May 2019.

(Buzz around, buzz around
Keep a-buzzin' 'round)
Bring home all theโ honey, โ love, to me
(Littleโ bee, little bee, little bee)
Let meโ spend the happy hours
Roving with you 'mongst the flow'rs
And when we get where no one else can see
Be my little baby bumble bee
(Buzz around, buzz around
Keep a-buzzin' 'round)
We'll be just has happy as can be
(You and me, you and me, you and me)
Honey, keep a-buzzin', please
I've got a dozen cousin bees
But I want you to be my baby bumble bee
Be my little baby bumble bee
Bring home all the honey, love, to me
Let me spend the happy hours
Roving with you 'mongst the flow'rs
And when we get where no one else can see
(Cuddle up, cuddle up, cuddle up)
Be my little baby bumble bee
(Buzz around, buzz around
Keep a-buzzin' 'round)
We'll be just has happy as can be
(You and me, you and me, you and me)
Honey, keep a-buzzin', please
I've got a dozen cousin bees
But I want you to be my baby bumble bee

The lyrics to Doris Day's song "Be My Little Baby Bumble Bee" depict a playful and affectionate request for a loved one to be like a little bumble bee. The song opens with the desire for the bee to buzz around, symbolizing movement and excitement. The singer asks the bee to bring home all the honey, which represents love and sweetness, emphasizing the longing for a deep and fulfilling relationship.
The lyrics further express the singer's desire to spend happy hours with the bee, enjoying each other's company among the flowers. The lyricist suggests finding a hidden place where they can be alone, away from the prying eyes of others. This intimacy is represented by the repeated line, "Cuddle up, cuddle up, cuddle up." The singer wants the bee to become their little baby and promises to care for and cherish them.
Throughout the song, the idea is reinforced that the singer desires a unique and special connection with the bee. They express that while they have other cousin bees, it is the bee they are singing to that they truly want to be their baby bumble bee, emphasizing the exclusivity of their feelings.
Overall, the lyrics of "Be My Little Baby Bumble Bee" convey a lighthearted and affectionate plea for a loved one to be the source of happiness and love in the singer's life, symbolized by the buzzing and honey of a bumble bee.

Doris Day could sing the phone book. Just a pure natural voice. She just sang the song - no over the top rubbish they do today to hide the fact most of them cannot sing! God I'm getting old.

Doris day certainly was the most excellent voice in singing as a classical love songs singer, most of her songs were like candies to me, sweet and enjoyable songs. Shes my first singer in the womanโs line up excellent awards out of my imagination. She had great singing voice, listening to her, you imagine you entered a magical world where heroes never say good - byes to anyone and legendary is forever.
