Day's film career began during the latter part of the Classical Hollywood Film era with the 1948 film Romance on the High Seas, and its success sparked her twenty-year career as a motion picture actress. She starred in a series of successful films, including musicals, comedies, and dramas. She played the title role in Calamity Jane (1953), and starred in Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) with James Stewart. Her most successful films were the bedroom comedies she made co-starring Rock Hudson and James Garner, such as Pillow Talk (1959) and Move Over, Darling (1963), respectively. She also co-starred in films with such leading men as Clark Gable, Cary Grant, David Niven, and Rod Taylor. After her final film in 1968, she went on to star in the CBS sitcom The Doris Day Show (1968–1973).
Day was usually one of the top ten singers between 1951 and 1966. As an actress, she became the biggest female film star in the early 1960s, and ranked sixth among the box office performers by 2012. In 2011, she released her 29th studio album, My Heart, which became a UK Top 10 album featuring new material. Among her awards, Day has received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and a Legend Award from the Society of Singers. In 1960, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, and in 1989 was given the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in motion pictures. In 2004, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush followed in 2011 by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's Career Achievement Award. She was one of the last surviving stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Her death was announced by her charity, the Doris Day Animal Foundation, on Monday 13th May 2019.

I See the Moon

What do I find? The things I got will keep me satisfied
Checking up on what I have and what I haven't
What do I find? A healthy balance on the credit side
Got no diamonds, got no pearls
Still I think I'm a lucky girl
I've got the sun in the morning and the moon at night
Still I'm happy with what I've got
I've got the sun in the morning and the moon at night
Sunshine gives me a lovely day
Moonlight gives me the Milky Way
Got no cheque books, got no banks
Still I'd like to express my thanks
I've got the sun in the morning and the moon at night
And with the sun in the morning and the moon in the evening
I'm all right
De-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo
De-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo
Sunshine gives me a lovely day
Moonlight gives me the Milky Way
Got no cheque books, got no banks
Still I'd like to express my thanks
I've got the sun in the morning and the moon at night
And with the sun in the morning, moon in the evening
I'm doing all right
Doing all right
Doing all right
I'm doing all right
Doris Day's song "I Got the Sun in the Morning" is a joyful tune that celebrates the simple pleasures and gratitude for life's small blessings. The song's opening lines, "Taking stock of what I have and what I haven't, what do I find?" urge listeners to consider their own blessings and the things they lack. The song's repeated melody and upbeat tempo give the impression that there is more to life than just money and material possessions. Rather, it is the simple things like sunshine and moonlight that bring joy to life.
The lyrics describe the things that the singer doesn't have, such as diamonds or a mansion, but she is still happy and content because she has the sun in the morning and the moon at night. This is a beautiful reminder that happiness doesn't come from material possessions, but from being grateful for the things that we have. The song teaches us that it is important to appreciate the smaller things in life that can bring immense happiness, like a sunny day, a night sky full of stars, or even just a kind word from a friend.
Overall, "I Got the Sun in the Morning" is a delightful and uplifting song that encourages listeners to focus on the things that truly matter in life. It celebrates gratitude, contentment, and the pleasure of a life lived simply and joyously.

Fly Me to the Moon (In Other Words) [Bart Howard]
Canção com Doris Day
Fly me to the moon
And let me play among the stars
Let me know what Spring is like
On Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, darling, kiss me
Fill my heart with song
And let me sing forever more
You are all I worship
All I long for and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you
Fill my heart with joy
And let me sing forever more
You are all I worship
All I long for and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you

Doris Day had the most incredible voice, and was an excellent actress as well 👏❤
@bronxboy47
Yes, That scene in "The Man Who Knew Too Much", where she's fighting off the effects of the sedative her husband had given her was Academy Award worthy. I believed every second of it.

Oh yes, I totally agree with you. Doris Day's Voice was as smooth as Velvet, and she was my favorite Female actress, and singer.
Like Dean Martin, he had a Voice as smooth as Velvet, and he was my favorite Male singer, and he was a food actor too. Plus I always LOVED HIS SENSE OF HUMOR, and I appreciated his
hilarious side of himself.
