Day's film career began during the latter part of the Classical Hollywood Film era with the 1948 film Romance on the High Seas, and its success sparked her twenty-year career as a motion picture actress. She starred in a series of successful films, including musicals, comedies, and dramas. She played the title role in Calamity Jane (1953), and starred in Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) with James Stewart. Her most successful films were the bedroom comedies she made co-starring Rock Hudson and James Garner, such as Pillow Talk (1959) and Move Over, Darling (1963), respectively. She also co-starred in films with such leading men as Clark Gable, Cary Grant, David Niven, and Rod Taylor. After her final film in 1968, she went on to star in the CBS sitcom The Doris Day Show (1968–1973).
Day was usually one of the top ten singers between 1951 and 1966. As an actress, she became the biggest female film star in the early 1960s, and ranked sixth among the box office performers by 2012. In 2011, she released her 29th studio album, My Heart, which became a UK Top 10 album featuring new material. Among her awards, Day has received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and a Legend Award from the Society of Singers. In 1960, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, and in 1989 was given the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in motion pictures. In 2004, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush followed in 2011 by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's Career Achievement Award. She was one of the last surviving stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Her death was announced by her charity, the Doris Day Animal Foundation, on Monday 13th May 2019.

Remind Me
Doris Day Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Remind me that the world is full of men
When I start to miss you, to touch your hand, to kiss you
Remind me to count to ten
I had a feeling when I met you
You'd drive me crazy if I let you
But all my efforts to forget you
Not to mention that I love you
To be sorry that we met
Although I adore you, remind me to ignore you
You're one thing I will regret
So when your charm begins to blind me
I'll simply tie my hands behind me
Don't let me kiss you, please remind me
Unless, my darling, you forget
Doris Day's "Remind Me" is a melancholic song about a past love and an unyielding temptation. The song starts with the singer acknowledging her attraction for someone that she knows isn't good for her. She then reminds herself that there are plenty of men out there, and she mustn't let her guard down when it comes to this person. The singer is pleading with herself to remain strong in the presence of temptation. She wants to be reminded that this person isn't worth her attention, and she must count to ten to prevent herself from giving in.
In the second verse, the singer admits that she knew he would drive her crazy but couldn't resist him. However; her attempts at forgetting him are futile, and every time she tries to move on, she finds herself falling in love with him all over again. She loves him, but at the same time, she wants to forget him. The singer implores herself not to be sorry that she met him, but to ignore him whenever she gets the urge to contact him.
This song plays on the human emotions of love and temptation. The singer knows that her attraction to this person is not good for her, but she can't help herself. The song, with its beautiful melody and poignant lyrics, will resonate with anyone who has ever struggled to resist temptation.

This is another example of the sheer sexy, sensuous quality that Doris exudes with a song like this. There is nothing crude or tawdry about it, it is simply a woman who is madly in love and unashamed of the fact. Doris communicates this like the master she is!
