Day's film career began during the latter part of the Classical Hollywood Film era with the 1948 film Romance on the High Seas, and its success sparked her twenty-year career as a motion picture actress. She starred in a series of successful films, including musicals, comedies, and dramas. She played the title role in Calamity Jane (1953), and starred in Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) with James Stewart. Her most successful films were the bedroom comedies she made co-starring Rock Hudson and James Garner, such as Pillow Talk (1959) and Move Over, Darling (1963), respectively. She also co-starred in films with such leading men as Clark Gable, Cary Grant, David Niven, and Rod Taylor. After her final film in 1968, she went on to star in the CBS sitcom The Doris Day Show (1968–1973).
Day was usually one of the top ten singers between 1951 and 1966. As an actress, she became the biggest female film star in the early 1960s, and ranked sixth among the box office performers by 2012. In 2011, she released her 29th studio album, My Heart, which became a UK Top 10 album featuring new material. Among her awards, Day has received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and a Legend Award from the Society of Singers. In 1960, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, and in 1989 was given the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in motion pictures. In 2004, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush followed in 2011 by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's Career Achievement Award. She was one of the last surviving stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Her death was announced by her charity, the Doris Day Animal Foundation, on Monday 13th May 2019.

Stay With the Happy People
Doris Day Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Have your fun, live in a land of joy
Stay with the happy people
Face that sun, life is a Christmas toy
Down through the endless ages
Tears have been contagious
So take it from me
So stay, stay, stay with the happy people
Don't wrinkle your brow
It's strictly out of style
Just stay with the people who love to wear a smile
When old Mr. Grouch sat on his couch
And told me that the end of the world was near
My happy heart
Rose with a start hollerin' "let's get out of here"
Oh, don't wrinkle your brow, it's strictly out of style
Just stay with the people who love to wear a smile
Just stay with the people who love to wear a smile
You gotta stay with the people who love to wear a smile
The song "Stay With the Happy People" by Doris Day is an upbeat and cheerful number that encourages the listener to surround themselves with joyful people and enjoy life to the fullest. The song suggests that happiness is contagious and that we should avoid negative people who are always looking for company amidst their misery. Instead, we should simply focus on having fun and living in the moment, just like children who are playing with their favorite toys on Christmas day.
The lyrics describe a scenario where "old Mr. Grouch" tries to spread fear and negativity by claiming that the end of the world is near. However, the singer's response is to reject this idea and instead focus on finding happiness and positivity in life. She encourages her listeners not to worry too much, as it is "strictly out of style" and instead simply join the happy people who wear a smile on their face. The overall message of the song is that we should strive to find joy and happiness in life, and that we can do so by surrounding ourselves with sunny and positive people.

Dear Doris Day Fans! That's why we are! To spread around her lifetime achievements! And as according to an old saying (which I don't know in English... :)), she will live forever till we think of her, talk about her and listen to her music. She is a real star, and won't fade out like the most of those who are "well rated" nowadays... God bless her and all of You who appreciate her being!
