In 2001, doubleDrive began recording a second album with producer John Kurzweg. However, the band subsequently parted with MCA Records and the completed album remained unreleased.
After shopping the album, the band signed with Roadrunner Records and re-entered the studio in 2002 with well-known producer Michael Barbiero to remix part of the album, and to record new songs. The resulting album, Blue in the Face, was released in April 2003. This album yielded a #14 single, the song Imprint. Imprint was also featured on ESPN's Major League Baseball coverage that same year.
doubleDrive toured extensively in the US and Australia, sharing stages with bands such as Sevendust, Kid Rock, Godsmack, Our Lady Peace, Clutch, Type O Negative, Shinedown, Silverchair, Queensrÿche, Finger Eleven, Megadeth, Seether, Tesla, Stereomud, Revis, 12 Stones, Cold, and many others....
On December 3, 2003, doubleDrive played their final show at the Cotton Club in Atlanta.
Singer Donnie Hamby is now doing DVD work (including Sevendust's Southside Doublewide Acoustic Live and Next DVDs, a live Edwin McCain DVD, and many others); guitarist Troy McLawhorn now plays with Dark New Day, Evanescence, and Seether; drummer Mike Froedge now performs with Open Sky Separators, and produces bands in his Atlanta recording studio, Open Sky Studio. Mike and bassist Josh Sattler are also working on a new project with Nick Catanese from Black Label Society, and Mike Stone from Queensryche, tentatively called Speed X.

Throw me out another window
Spreading out across the wind
Throw me out another window
You spread it out
Meanwhile,
I fill in the blank
Always riding me
Could you pass the blame please
Have you had any
When it looks bad
I feel you come near me
You by far are so missed
So mystic of all
So as for me
Set me up
And watch me fall
Spreading out across the wind
So throw me out another window
Spreading out across the wind
So throw me out another window
A window
Its seems to get ahead
Is to keep another down
Its hard to believe
In me
But how a climber
Will fall
I couldn't breath before
But I'm feeling better now
Spreading out across the wind
So throw me out another window
Spreading out across the wind
So throw me out another window
A window
Its hard to believe in me
So as for me
Set me up
And watch me fall
Spreading out across the wind
So throw me out another window
Spreading out across the wind
So throw me out another window
A window
Spreading out across the wind
So throw me out another window
Spreading out across the wind
So throw me out another window
A window
The lyrics suggest the singer may be feeling trapped or stuck in their current situation (“Always riding me, Only half-empty tank”), and they ask for someone to throw them out another window. This can be interpreted as the singer wanting a new opportunity or a fresh start, but feeling like they need someone else’s help to achieve it.
The line “Its seems to get ahead / Is to keep another down” touches on the idea of competition and the belief that in order for one person to succeed, others may have to fail. The singer may be feeling the pressure to always outperform others, even if it means stepping on others to get there.
The repeated lines “Spreading out across the wind / So throw me out another window” can be seen as a yearning for freedom, a desire to break away from the monotony of their current situation and to explore new horizons.
Overall, the song seems to be about the desire for change and the search for something more fulfilling. The singer may feel like they’re at a dead end and need someone else’s help to move forward.

Spreading out across the wind
My issues are spreading and affecting others
Throw me out another window
Help me escape my problems
You spread it out
You caused my problems to spread
Meanwhile, I fill in the blank
I'm left to deal with the aftermath and consequences
Always riding me
My problems constantly weigh me down
Only half-empty tank
I'm running on low energy and resilience
Could you pass the blame please
I'm trying to avoid responsibility for my problems
Have you had any
Are you going through similar struggles?
When it looks bad
When things are tough
I feel you come near me
I sense your support and encouragement
You by far are so missed
I miss having your presence and guidance
So mystic of all
You have a mysterious way of helping me
So as for me
Speaking for myself
Set me up
Help me succeed
And watch me fall
But be prepared for my potential failure
It seems to get ahead
Success often comes at others' expense
Is to keep another down
I don't want to hold others back
It's hard to believe in me
I struggle with self-doubt
But how a climber will fall
Even those who appear successful can falter
I couldn't breathe before
I was suffocating under my problems
But I'm feeling better now
I'm starting to overcome my issues
A window
A metaphor for escape
Spreading out across the wind
My problems continue to affect others
So throw me out another window
Help me escape my problems again

This is the best song NEVER released. Possibly my favorite of all time. The mainstream music world should be ashamed of themselves.
