Dreams Prevail Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Xerxes: Thank you for running my errands, puppet. I know you have struggled, but I never had any intention of destroying the Von Braun. The Von Braun can be used to create pockets of proto-reality. I am now using it to modify reality to my own specifications. The process shall not take long. If it sounds unpleasant to you put your mind at ease insect. You will not survive to see my new world order.

Xerxes: You travel within the glory of my memories, insect. I can feel your fear as you tread the endless expense of my mind. Make yourself comfortable, before long I will decorate my home with your carcass.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Dreams Prevail's song V describe the arrogance and manipulative nature of a character named Xerxes, who appears to be the antagonist of the story. In the first verse, Xerxes taunts a subordinate (the "puppet") who had been running errands for him, revealing that he had no intention of destroying a place called the Von Braun, but rather manipulating its powers to create a new reality that he controls. Xerxes is aware of the puppet's struggles but shows little regard for him, dismissing him as an "insect" who will not survive to see the new world order he plans to create.

In the second verse, Xerxes appears to be using psychic powers to invade the puppet's mind and control his perception of reality. The puppet is depicted as being trapped within Xerxes' memories, feeling fear as he traverses the vastness of Xerxes' consciousness. Xerxes reveals that he plans to kill the puppet and use his remains as decoration for his "home". The lyrics are powerful in their depiction of a character with godlike powers who sees himself as superior to all others, treating them with disdain and using them as pawns in his quest for power.
