In 2006, Holcomb married his longtime friend and singing partner, Ellie Holcomb (nee Bannister), and relocated to her hometown of Nashville. The rest of the band, guitarist Nathan Dugger, bassist Rich Brinsfield, and drummer Jon Radford also lived in the same East Nashville area, hence the group name.
Their albums include "A Neighborly Christmas" (2007), "Passenger Seat" (2008), "A Million Miles Away" (2009), "Chasing Someday" (2011), "Through the Night: Live in the Studio" (2012), and "Good Light" (2013).
Here We Go

Feel like a castaway
This world keeps changing and I can't keep the pace
It's like a race, I didn't know I was running
But there are some things like rudders in a storm,
Someone to keep you warm,
A friend to raise a glass, to take off your mask,
Oh yeah alright, trying to make sense of it all tonight
Oh no, here we go, it won't be the last time
Shouting and struggling and feeling like you're nothing
Trying not to give in, not to take it on the chin,
Trying to wear your thickest set of skin
Music, it makes you feel good, makes you feel understood,
Like you're not alone, you're not a rolling stone,
Not the only one on the road.
Oh yeah alright, trying to make sense of it all tonight
Oh no, here we go, it won't be the last time
It all seemed pretty plausible, but it became impossible,
The promises you made, the ones you got betrayed,
And all the things that you still don't know at the end of the day
The lyrics of Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors’s song "Here We Go" talk about the struggles of life and the need for people to have support and companionship during the tough times. The first verse describes the feeling of being lost, like a criminal or a castaway, in a world that keeps changing too fast to keep pace with. The metaphor of the race that the singer didn’t know they were running adds to this feeling of disorientation, making it clear that life can seem like a never-ending marathon, especially when you feel like you're not even sure what you're running towards. However, amidst the chaos, there are things that can help provide direction and stability, like a rudder in a storm, a friend to talk to, or someone to raise a glass with.
The chorus emphasizes the idea that life is a continuous struggle and that there will always be more challenges to face. It highlights the importance of trying to make sense of it all and finding people who can support and encourage us through life’s ups and downs. The lines “Oh yeah alright, trying to make sense of it all tonight/Oh no, here we go, it won’t be the last time” convey a sense of resignation, as if to say that we have to keep going, even though we know it won’t be the last time we face adversity.
The second verse acknowledges the difficulty of dealing with challenges alone and the need to find ways to cope. It speaks of shouting and struggling, of trying not to give in or take it on the chin, and of wearing your thickest set of skin. But in the end, the singer suggests that music, especially when it’s shared with others, can be a source of consolation, making you feel good and understood. The final lines of the song suggest that life is full of uncertainties, that promises can be broken, and that there are still many things that we don’t know in spite of our efforts to make sense of the world.
