’60s-sounding Welsh blues singer Aimee Anne Duffy - known professionally as Duffy - released her debut single Rockferry in December 2007. After relocating to London in 2006, she came to the attention of Rough Trade. She is often compared to late ’60s soul diva Dusty Springfield and has experienced significant mainstream success with the single Mercy reaching #1 in the United Kingdom. The debut album, Rockferry, was released in March 2008, and also made #1 on the UK album chart. Bernard Butler of Suede worked extensively on the album, lending it an authentic and wonderfully produced lush ’60s sound.
The 24-year-old’s debut album, Rockferry, triumphed at the 2009 BRIT Awards for British Album, British Female Solo Artist, and British Breakthrough Act.

Enough Love
Duffy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
What turns diamonds into dust
Like oxygen to you and me
We need it more than the air we breathe
Too much push and shove
Without enough love to go round
There must be enough love
There must be enough love
To go round the world
There must be enough love
To go round the world
There must be enough love love love
What hurts but feels so fine
What turns water in wine
It runs so deep in you and me
From a fountain to a river to the seven seas
Too much push and shove
Without enough love to go round
I finally found
There must be enough love
To go round the world
There must be enough love
To go round the world
There must be enough love
To go round the world
There must be enough love love love
Woohoo
There must be enough love
To go round the world
There must be enough love
Woohoo
There must be enough love
To go round the world
There must be enough love around the world
In Duffy's song "Enough Love", the lyrics speak to the idea that love is an essential part of life, and without enough love, people can experience feelings of push and shove. The opening lines, "What makes gold look like rust, What turns diamonds into dust," set a tone for a metaphorical interpretation of the song. The metaphorical interpretation is the idea that the value of material things, such as gold and diamonds, pales in comparison to the importance of love. The lines, "Too much push and shove, Without enough love to go round," suggest that a lack of love can lead to difficult situations, and there must be enough love to go around.
The chorus repeats the message that there must be enough love to go round the world. Love is something that runs deep in us and is as important as the air we breathe. Love can turn water into wine and cause us to feel hurt but also feel so fine. The lyrics display that love is a fundamental element of life that can be both challenging and sublime. The song's message is one of hope and encouragement, that even when love is scarce, there is still a possibility of having enough love to go around the world.
