They played and recorded wth all the greats of their day such as Louis Armstrong and Gene Krupa. They also recorded on every major record label like Epic, RCA, Audio Fidelity, Columbia and Decca just to name a few. The Dukes ended in 1974 with the death of Frank Assunto. Although the real Dukes are no more their one of a kind recordings have never been equaled. While there is another group calling themselves the dukes of dixieland and have falsely tried to lay claim to the Assunto Dukes legacy they can never equal the Real Dukes of Dixieland. All one has to do is to compare their recordings. For more documented history of the Real Dukes of Dixieland please visit www.thedukesofdixieland.com
