He named himself after the Gipsy guitarist Django Reinhardt. Two of his sons, Marcos Llunas and Jordi, are also singers, though the first one is currently retired. He is widely known as the Spanish Tom Jones.

El compositor y director de orquesta cubano René Touzet, algunas de cuyas obras pasearon por el mundo en cantantes como Frank Sinatra, Pedro Vargas y Lucho Gatica, falleció en Miami en Junio 15, 2003 a los 86 años de edad. El músico compuso alrededor de 500 canciones y produjo más de 20 discos de larga duración. En 1937 había fundado su propia orquesta y recordaba que su canción más famosa, No te importa saber , la compuso mientras viajaba en un tranvía de La Habana.
La canción, predecesora del movimiento del feeling en la Cuba de los años 50 y 60, fue, con letra en ingles por Mitchell Parish, popularizada mundialmente por Frank Sinatra con el título de "Let me love you tonight", y fue interpretada tambien por Bing Crosby, Dean Martin y otros cantantes.
