In december of 1999 the band got the formation it has today: Pelle sings, Filip Carvell plays the acoustic and the electric guitar and sings, Helena Söderman plays the flute, melodica, harmonica, glockenspiel, Wurlitzer and sings, Mårten Josjö plays the electric guitar, Mats Deltin plays the bass and Ulf Lundberg the drums.
In 1999 Edson made about 30 live appearances, e.g. one at the demo stage of the Hultsfred festival in Sweden. After the performance Edson met John Cloud, who was interested in releasing something on his label Stormstreet records. In September a four-track EP was released containing the songs Sunday, Lovely Sunday, I Didn´t Mean to be Mean, 22:22 {We Need a Quarrel, We Need a Fight} and Terry Whips.
The same year the band contributed with two songs on the compilation CD The Sound of Young Sweden and with one song each on Sound Affects Magazine's »Hultsfred special-CD« and the »Demoscenen«-CD of the Hultsfred festival. The Sunday, lovely sunday EP was also released by Matinée Recordings in the US, but with a slightly different tracklist.
In the autumn of -00 Edson was signed to Summersound Recordings and recorded their debut album Unwind with edson, which was released February 14 2001 and was received well.
Album number two, For Strength, was recorded and mixed during ten intensive days in the end of December of 2001, once again with Andreas Ahlenius as technician and once again mainly in the rock metropolis of Gävle, Sweden. The result is very satisfactory. Edson has evolved as a unity, and their sound is more homogenous and personal.

Ola Jörhall
Edson Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Poor and naive
Now I am bald
Poor and deceived
I used to like
Riding a bike
Now I am bold
Puffy and ripe
Ola-la, what ever happened to
All my dreams and "My Violet You"?
Pleased to meet you, call my name
You and I will never be the same (again)
And what's the point of being all I long for?
(What's the point of being all I want to be?)
I used to spend
Time with my friends
Now I get real
Life on TV
I used to sleep
Solemnly deep
Now I'm awake
Counting my sheep
Ola-la, what ever happened to
All my dreams and "My Violet you"?
Pleased to meet you, call my name
You and I will never be the same (again)
And what's the point of being all I long for?
What's the point of being all I want to be?)
The lyrics of Edson's song Ola Jörhall talk about a personal transformation from a simpler, more innocent life to a more complex and deceiving one. The opening lines describe the singer's previous state of poverty and naivety, which has now turned into being poor and deceived. This transformation is also reflected in the change of personal preferences; riding a bike has been replaced with being more bold and "puffy and ripe". The use of the words "puffy and ripe" could be interpreted as a reference to bloating caused by overindulgence or possibly an allusion to aging.
The chorus of the song, "Ola-la, whatever happened to all my dreams and 'My Violet You'?" seems to indicate a yearning for the past and a sense of regret for lost aspirations. The verse further highlights this sense of longing as it mentions how the singer used to spend time with friends and now watches their life on TV. The idea of solemnly sleeping being replaced by the counting of sheep further amplifies the idea of disillusionment and loss of innocence.
Overall, the lyrics of Ola Jörhall appear to be a reflection on the disillusionment that can come with the passing of time and the realization that life often takes unexpected or undesired turns. It touches on the themes of regret and nostalgia and reminds us that sometimes, things do not turn out as we had planned, and the past can seem like a distant, idyllic dream in comparison.
