The band began as an after-church endeavor when the DuPrees were young. The band was named Moss Eisley, after the Star Wars city Mos Eisley, but for legal reasons the "Moss" was dropped officially when they announced their tour opening for Coldplay. Now they're all grown up and have both headlined and opened for bands such as (but not limited to): Taking Back Sunday, Coldplay, Switchfoot, Snow Patrol, Brand New, Vedera, MUTEMATH, The Myriad, Hot Hot Heat and New Found Glory, and Say Anything, in which Sherri DuPree married lead singer Max Bemis. Featuring ethereal, soaring harmonies and dreamy imagery, Eisley has a sound all their own. They are, however, not without comparison or influence. Their sound echoes to dream pop and artists such as Cocteau Twins or Mazzy Star and to contemporary acts such as Denali.
Go Away

And when you say you're gone
I have to reach my arms outstretched to you
Because I know we're through
So go away, go away
And leave me on my own
Go away, go away
Finally it all makes sense
I could keep this all from you
And I could make a statement based on truth
But then it all comes tumbling down
Down, down, down
So go away, go away
And leave me on my own
Go away, go away
And leave me on my own
So go away, go away
And leave me on my own
Go away, go away
And leave me on my own
I am holding you (I am holding you)
I am holding you (I am holding you)
I am holding you (I am holding you)
I am holding you (I am holding you)
Go away, go away
And leave me on my own
Go away, and go away
And leave me on my own
Won't you go away, go away
And leave me on my own
Go away, go away
Leave me on my own
Honey, leave me on my own
Leave me on my own
Leave me on my own
The lyrics of Eisley's "Go Away" express a sense of loss and longing for a relationship that has ended. The singer, who refers to themselves as "a part of your soul, boy," is still deeply connected to the person they once loved. They express a desire for this person to leave them alone and go away, which seems to contradict their need to reach their arms out to them. The repetition of the phrase "go away" adds to the sense of conflict and tension in the song.
The second verse reveals that there is something that the singer could keep from their former lover, maybe a secret or a painful truth. However, they acknowledge that keeping something hidden will eventually lead to everything "tumbling down." This vulnerability and honesty is ultimately what leads to the request for the other person to leave them alone.
The repeated chorus, with its plea for the other person to go away and leave the singer on their own, reinforces the idea that there is a disconnect between what the singer wants and what they feel they need. The repeated phrase "I am holding you" suggests that the singer is still holding onto the memories and emotions of their past relationship.
Overall, the lyrics of "Go Away" convey a complex range of emotions that come with the end of a relationship: longing, vulnerability, tension, and a need for independence and closure.
