Among their greatest hits -after their Three Souls era- "Triste Cancion" (based on Neil Young's "Like a Hurricane"), "Metro Balderas" (originally by Rodrigo Gonzalez), and "Piedras Rodantes" are probably the most known and have the quality of Anthems. Favorite bluesy songs such as "Oye Cantinero" and "ADO" belong to their Three Souls era, but are included in compilations and newer versions (from live concert recordings) abound.

The lyrics of the song 'El Fantasma' by El Tri talk about the ‘ghost’ that haunts the Mexico City subway system. The ghost is said to travel on the subway from stop to stop, from Reyes station to Tacubaya and from Indios verdes to the Aragon. The presence of the ghost is felt on every platform, in every car and on every seat of the train, travelling with commuters from Viveros to Insurgentes and from Bellas Artes to the Escuadron.
The song describes how the ghost travels with you, in every moment and every thought, The ghost is said to be present everywhere, always but no one really knows its story. The subway system is described as an ocean of people, teeming with life and stories that are hidden within its carriages.
The song’s repeated refrain, ‘Es El Fantasma Del Metro’ (It's the Ghost of the Subway) suggests that the ghost isn’t limited to one particular line or station, but is rather a reflection of the urban myth that haunts the entire subway system of the city.
Overall, the song is an ode to the Mexico City subway system, a witness of the daily life of millions of people, and a reminder that there is always a bit of mystery and magic in the mundane.
