Punch and Judy
Elliott Smith Lyrics

A wallflower punch talks to judy
In a crowded corner where anybody can listen in
But they don't read page to page or speak easy
Now they're gonna go say the words
In the wrong order again
They walk in a circle
Through all the sidewalks scenes they used to be apart of one time
Now everybody just stares and whispers
Driving around up and down division street
I used to like it here
It just burns me out to remember
Can't you ever treat anyone nice
I think I'm gonna make the same mistake twice
They draw the curtain
Wait for a call
Pretty lucky if they get any kind of response at all
Can't you ever treat anyone nice
I think I'm gonna make the same mistake twice
I'm gonna make the same mistake twice

Reminds me of the original Beatles. :(

“They walk in a circle
Through all the sidewalk scenes they used to be apart of one time
Now everybody just stares and whispers”

The original John Lennon, Colin, walks around locations where he used to perform, and he has walked for years.
Explanation: the beatles were an experiment, but that part doesn’t really matter. the original actors were replaced in 1966 and everyone believes and accepts that they’re dead (john and george), or that they’re pathetic untalented weirdos now (paul and ringo).
but the truth is, the beatles were always actors.
an actor playing a teacher gets paid more than a real teacher. so wouldn’t actors playing famous musicians be paid way more?
The beatles were always actors, but after 1966, the beatles were actors playing actors.

The Get Back documentary was just a movie.

The original John has Facebook and a YouTube channel by the way. He has a video called “Personnel lost tapes of iconic beatles locations” and at 3:07 you can see the original Paul with him. It was filmed in 2003.

I didn't care that much for this song but one day it just clicked. Elliott Smith is amazing.

I'm 16, I've listened to this man for 3 days now, this is the only album of his I've heard and already I can tell he's one of the greatest songwriters of all time. His music is so harrowing and melancholic no matter how upbeat the chord progression, an absolute visionary. Even if I can't relate to most of his material I naturally draw my own personal meaning to connect with him, wish I could've seen him live. Rest in piece you musical genius Elliot.
