Upon the band's formation, they released one extended play (EP) in 2007, titled This Is Your Way Out, and shortly after, the group underwent significant line-up and sound changes, dropping their metalcore influence and leaning towards a more rock sound. The band released their debut studio album, Relativity (2008), which featured vocalist Jonny Craig and rhythm guitarist Jonas Ladekjaer. Their second studio album, Emarosa, was released in June 2010, to critical acclaim, and was Craig's final album with the group.
Following Craig's departure, the band toured briefly with a fill-in vocalist before entering a period of inactivity. Eventually, Craig was formally replaced by Walden. Emarosa then released their third studio album, Versus, on September 9, 2014, which peaked at No. 61 in the Billboard 200. The band signed to Hopeless Records and released their fourth and fifth studio albums, 131 (2016) and Peach Club (2019). A sixth, Sting, is set for release in January 2023.

A Toast To The Future Kids!
Emarosa Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Because I sell myself short every time
Oh
How you became my life
You took me in before I could back out
Well I still have faith
It will start again
Oh, I still have faith
Well I'm about to spend my cold life
Cutting corners, placing blame
Any moment this could catch fire
Erasing all the stains
So here's to starting over
We could be the same
We'll change it all together
The future's mine to claim
Claim
Mine to claim
You can't get out
Fear, couldn't place its hands on us my dear
My pride has dropped
Because I couldn't sell short myself this time
String it along
Say you'll love me either way
Well I'm about to spend my cold life
Cutting corners, placing blame
Any moment this could catch fire
Erasing all the stains
So here's to starting over
We could be the same
We'll change it all together
The future's mine to claim
Seeing past
It's about time I asked for more
Watching my life, at the distance we have come
While I bled
While I've learned
But I always seem to give up on my self (self, self, self, self)
String it along (love, love, love, love)
Say you'll love me either way (self, self, self, self)
Say you'll love me any way (self, self, self, self)
While I'm alone (love, love , love, love)
Say you'll love me either way (self, self, self, self, love, love, love, love)
Mine to claim
Claim!
Well I'm about to spend my cold life
Cutting corners, placing blame
Any moment this could catch fire
Erasing all the stains
So here's to starting over
We could be the same
We'll change it all together
The future's mine to claim
The lyrics of Emarosa's song A Toast To The Future Kids! speak about the challenges of self-doubt and fear, and the hope and determination to move forward and seize the future. The opening lines "Piece it all together now / Because I sell myself short every time" suggest a pattern of self-sabotage and lack of confidence. The next lines "How you became my life / You took me in before I could back out" may refer to a person or a positive experience that gave the singer the courage to take a chance and start something new.
The chorus, which repeats twice throughout the song, is a declaration of resilience and possibility. It acknowledges the potential for failure and mistakes ("Cutting corners, placing blame / Any moment this could catch fire / Erasing all the stains") but also the power of unity and determination ("Here's to starting over / We could be the same / We'll change it all together / The future's mine to claim"). The ending repetition of "Mine to claim" reinforces the idea that the singer, and by extension the listener, has agency over their destiny and can shape it through perseverance and positivity.
